Is anyone watching the song-by-song breakdown of this album on MuchMoreMusic?

It's pretty interesting to see how it all got put together. Metallica used to be so cool, what happened to them!

hehehe metallica. i listened to that tape until it wore out.

i've seen the 'year and a half with metallica' movie that detailed the making of that album like 5 times.

I really like the Black Album.

They were showing how they went from recording stuff bar by bar, and each instrument alone, to recording live in the same room.

And Lars was talking about how once they became popular they didn't have to worry about selling records like they had the forst few albums so now they had more creative control to do shit like the orchestra album.

I wish they'd just kept trying to sell records.

I like that one!

Yah it does.

AYear and a Half - wasn't that in the box set? My brother had it. We still sold it on a very regular basis @ Sam's when I worked there. James was also saying that the Black Album still sells 1 million copies a year.

<---saw Metallica on the Nowhere to Roam tour w/ Danzig & Suicidal Tendencies back when I was 14!

Speaking of Metalica has anyone ever heard of apocaliptica<---(spelling)? It's these 4 dudes from Europe somewhere, they do Metalica covers but they all play chelo's. It's really cool if you ever liked metalica. I've heared two of there albums and definatly recomend.

didn't metallica record live sessions with a complete orchestra and release it under that name? can't remember cause that's when i started getting into 'this scene' so the rock world took a back seat.....

Well ...

I wish they'd just kept trying to sell records.
I'm glad Metallica took on a new creative direction for their recent albums. A perfect example of why a band should NOT just keep writing the same old songs to sell records is AC/DC. :)

haha! Soooooooo true.

I think their talent topped for 'Ride the Lightning' and started dropping (albeit slowly) from there.
