Max @ Tonic

Come on kids,
Let's be honest.
Max deserves his own thread for last night's production.

It was, in fact, all about MAX.

Okay so, Max CLAIMED he was going to open the night with "building deeper stuff, funky but not banging"
(see the "Toronto" thread on Max Graham's website/msg. board on this issue).

But it was all lies, oh yes indeed it was.
Max - is a fucking star.
I was laughing all the way through his set thinking that there was no WAY on EARTH Oakie would be able to compare. Christ, he wouldn't even come close.

If that's what Max calls "not banging," i'd like to see what his version of "banging" is all about.

Thankfully, Tonic had their shit together this time. Benson and Hedges, knows all about Crowd Control and i must say the most thorough Search by a GUY i've ever had - yikes. I only waited an hour and a 1/2 in the line - big improvement from the last Oakie/Tonic event - 3 hours in Sub-Zero weather no less.

So we chilled for a bit waiting for Max and the crowd within continued to grow. By the time Max came on around 11, there was little room to move. I was content to just bop my head while listening to the master at work.

I only stayed for Oakie's first track. He seemed to remove himself from the decks after the first record was finished so i removed myself from the club. Someone said he appeared to be really hammered.

Thanks to Max for a great set. By far one of the most entertaining DJs out there. I don't think it's possible for Max to not have fun or become disinterested while on the decks.

i'll be MUCH happier when he's back in May at Turbo. His sets bring out the people who have good taste in music, unlike most of the undesireables who were there last night to see the toad man himself.

later.

one word about max's set last night: LEGENDARY

he had the crowd by his finger tips. we gave him so much love and he gave it right back, hardcore.

best set i've ever witnessed. that should've been the peak time set.

way to go max, you made us proud! even oakenfold was applauding him at the end of his set

max graham was off the hook!! he really does play for the crowd. so much emotion and energy in his sets, it's unbeleivable!! i had a chance to chat with him b4 he left, he is such a down to earth guy. in no way has fame corrupted him. oakie on the other hand was a big flop. after graham's amazing set, he just slowed it right down and lost the crowd entirely. over paid pile of @$@#.

As much as I agree with you it also bothers me to an extent that as soon as someone becomes well known and attracts those 'undesireables' that their talent level somehow drops immediately...

I wonder what all of you will say about Max in 2 years time..
