Holy shyte!!!!

That has to of been THE BEST set yet at breathe! and possibly the best set of the year!
I've heard I think just about everyone of his tracks, and I've heard many good things about his DJ sets, mostly from Mixmag. I didn't quite know what to expect though, but he didn't disapoint at all!
Hard and fast!! wow....his mixing and track selection were nothing short of spectacular. He played a lot of tracks I have never heard before and would kill to get a hold of! That mix of Lizard he dropped was killer also..
I don't know how else to discribe what I just experienced, except to say...WOW!
Unortunatley I had to leave at 4:30 because my friend drank to much and was puking...bastard!

I hope someone brings him back here again and soon...WOW!

Props to Mike Greco for being the first to bring this musical genius to North America, and for continuosly bringing in such wicked DJ's!

5 / 5 Glowsticks!

yeah... well... *S* too bad I was only there for HALF an hour.. *S* had to leave before picotto came on- had to take care of some "business" (NO- not DRUGS you junkies!) *wink*

god damn. I waited for way too long in what was supposed to be a guestlist line (which was twice as long as the regular one).... way too many people paying the bouncers (y'all know who you are! *glare* *S*) to get in.... that was a JOKE.

anyway, all I can say is it was good to see all the familiar faces, and even meet a few new ones! (thanks for the drink, DEEP!! *mwah*)

adios

Will try my best to string together a coherent sentence or two here.

Without a doubt this night gets my vote as the best set of the year. Dekoze dropping Musak's Trisco and Fatboy Slim's *69 set the stage for an unbelieavable performance by Picotto. Totally my speed - relentless techno with pulsating ominous bass and head trauma inducing storm trooper kick drums accentuated with dashes of chill inducing trance. Perfect in deep's books. Even the nauseating "Komodo" was tolerable when set against the backdrop of vicious tracks like Picotto's "Baguette", Megamind's "Taub" and Thomas Schumacher's "When I Rock".

Perhaps equally as good was finally being able to put some faces to names I've been reading for the past few years. It was pretty damned funny, the moment Dynovac and I got out of the cab I ran into atleast 10 people that I hadn't seen in months in the expanse of all of 20 feet. Okay, so maybe it was funny to me.

Laura, glad to have finally matched a face to the asshole for you [both referring to me, fyi]. Didn't see you after buying you that drink , guess you were up front kicking it, but glad to hear that you had a good night.

Naomi, it was a wonderful surprise to see you out, it's too bad that you had to call it an early night - so much for that ironwoman image huh
smile.gif
Jes playing.

Ambarish, you dishonour your race by being so fucking generous. Some brown guy you are. [Do you think Deep has beaten the brown joke horse enough?]

Chris, you fucking sneaky little turd. Wait, no, we've already established that I'm just a deaf muthafucka. It's too bad you seemed to run off midway through the night before we could atleast bring you to some level of alcohol poisoning to celebrate your birthday.

Wojtek and Flea, you two guys are peeps that I've wanted to meet for some time so it was an honour to finally be able to do that. Where'd you run off to Wojtek? Part timers, the lot of you!

Darryl - thanks for being my partner in crime for the night, you totally helped contribute to one of the best nights I've had out in a long time. AND I AM GOING TO KILL YOU AND ISA AND STEAL THAT FUCKING CONDO.

If there is anyone I've left out, please forgive me, I have two brains cells left, and one is looking for the other one as we speak.

Well deserved props to everyone associated with Breathe - you guys are by far the best thing I think to happen to Toronto weeklies in memory, and you raised the bar by bringing in Picotto for a night to remember. Personally I think you guys are the standard by which other club nights should be judged - the sheer effort there seems to be put into the entire production coupled with the staggering quality of the talent brought in is remarkable indeed.

See you guys back there for Anthony Pappa

Pete - It was so fucking wicked to see you guys out again, it's been too long. I'm sorry I didn't link up with you before we left, it completely slipped my mind - I apologize. Spent some of the night looking for you guys unsuccessfully...but no matter, we will party again very soon

I knew the night was going to be great from the start.. we got our ID's checked, got searched, went to go pay and some girl says, "i've got you guys, just go in." FREE without havin to do anything!! wooohooo!

the whole night was nothing but fun, picotto was so on with everything, also he looked like he was having a fuckin blast up there behind the decks.. Breathe - you're all awesome. thanks for the awesome night yet again!!! everyone out tonight also had the best attitudes which were great and.. umm.. i'm going to bed now, was a long drive home. g'nite!

Yep, Picotto was pretty damn good. I liked "Taub" the most out of the whole set, probably because it was the first time i heard it out on a nice system. Not that the rest wasn't nicely banging. One complaint: too many people, which is why i spent most of my Picotto time by the door deep!!! My gf spent herself during De-Koze's set and them stools behind the dj booth were the only seats in the house. I tried finding you guys before I left but I have not succeeded.

Finally meeting deep and dynovac, and madnezz and libradragon as well, was the highlight of my night. I was attempting to get drunk that night but after 6 drinks I was nowhere near it and that was my "twilight zone" experience of the night. I mean i could literally drive my car, if i had to... btw, some dickhead smashed into the front driverside of my ride, which is the last thing you wanna see when you get out of a nice party (i have a bit of a history in that department y'see)...

deep, thank you for my pussyass lemonade, i owe you one!
wink.gif
(yes yes, i know, them whiteys...)

Pretty good night (if you forget the impending bill from the body shop), although my friends old and new deserve more credit than anything else for making it so.

Wow.
Picotto was absolutely slamming.
I really don't know how else to put it unless I steal bits from Deep's description.

I'd also like to thank all of the party peeps from the Tribe board who came out and kicked it hard on the dancefloor. I saw most of you...even if you didn't see me.
Respect to the one like Rent 'cuz he's been a Breathe supporter from the beginning and he's at the top of my a-list. By the way..what's this about your birthday?? Or was Deep talking about a different Chris??

Anyhow...next week should be quite special as well with Matt Coleridge taking his well-deserved turn behind the decks at Breathe.
See you all there.

This was a great party. One small complaint was it was jammed to the nuts, so I couldn't really dance all that much. But the crowd was jamming hard, which I always like to see. Mauro Picotto kicked ass for a good 3-4 hours (didn't have a watch, but it felt long). Mark Scaife was great as always. Had me dancing till the very end. Except with the small technical diffuculties where they stopped for about 10mins. The crowd was great, which is a plus. No major thugs or attitude. Overall a great night.

Mmmmmm WOW... After hearing Mauro's set last night I am quite sure that I would be willing to bear any more children he wants just for him (the fact that Im a guy doesn't matter much, right?)
smile.gif
It was so fackin good to hear his set, it was brilliantly done and OMG such good techno... Mmmmm (again) Only thing I wished was that he might sped stuff up a bit, but then again WTF am I doing whining... Thank you so much Breathe for bringing the man in that I have been waiting so long to see!!!! Get him back in the moment you can!!!
Also I thought Deko-ze spun a truly kick ass set before and thanks go out to him for yet another great set.

He played some of his more known tracks later in the set which I liked and the crowd was good too..

Overall a very nice set.. Definately one of the best i've heard this year

( Too bad I had to wait 45 minutes to get my jacket from coatcheck... that's way too long a wait...)

Well, I would try a review, but not this time, there is no point.
My night started bad from the momement I left my house, so by the time I got through the usual line crap at System, I couldn't feel my frozen feet and I was in a shitty mood. As usual I am vowing yet again, to never set foot in System - every time I get pissed off about something.

The tunes seemed fairly good, all way too similar at the start of Picotto set, but as I said - I shouldn't judge so I'll stop now. I danced a little, I tried to get into the music, but I just didn't feel it.

Nice to meet up with all the TBK, you saved my night - Ilia, Madnezz, Fleaflo, LibraD, Malglo, Giz, AT-AT, MetalM, Chrome and Jay and for 1st time Deep, Alchemy, Chronic.

shite, what a night....Picotto surprised me with a pounding set. I missed 'When I rock'...i must have left by then(due to a combination of too much alcohol, over tiredness from a 24 hour day, and numerous cigarette burns to the body...I have a cig burn on my face fuck sakes).

Thanks to all the people who made my birthday a blast...Giz, Deep(ya deaf bastard, hehe), Dynovac, Libra, Flea, Chrome(hope your pants dried ok, hehe), J-man(who didn't show up to the club), Madnezz(good to see you again), and Par-T.

I'm just going to lie down now...crazy mad hangover.

Special thanks to Mike Greco though. Keep up the good work mate. Breathe: best night in the city, no doubt.

Respect,
Chris

I have NEVER seen Breathe as packed as it was last friday - well done, MikeTwisted and purpleybluegrrl et al.

I was thoroughly inebriated (BSM bombfest at Tortilla Flats - damn margaritas!) by the time we rolled into System, so i apologize if i wasn't my usually peppy self.

Mauro Picotto's set wasn't really my style, so I grooved to the sounds of Luka and Carlos in the back instead. As always I was in good company - Fleaflo, Gizmo, Chrome, Blueshrike, Rentboy, Subsonic Chronic - good to run into Deep (about FICKING time!), Dynovac, Madnezz, Futronic, Par-T, At-At....

See y'all on the 22nd - Matt Coleridge's gonna rock System like it's never been rocked before. Toronto - get ready to be smashed on your ass!!!

Well, I can say that was one of the coolest lineups I've ever been in
wink.gif
I got there at around 11:45, to find the guestlist line (as usual) to be much larger than the paying line...and this time, as usual, it wasn't moving...I got to see Laura and Avro, which was cool...Finally saw Moez who informed me it was almost midnite (g/l ran out at midnite), so we bailed and hit the loft party...Overall a wicked night, but I really wanted to see picotto and see what the hype around breath was all about...

I arrived at 11:30 and stood in line for well over an hour! And then we had to pay to get in!
But It's all good...it was so worth the 15 bucks!
