Mansion throw the best parties these days

That is all.

Last night's party at Trinity church was great: good beats, very stylish girls and boys (but the girls, thankfully, not of the doll stand around with giant purse type, but of the sexy dancing type) in all kinds of permutations.

Great beats, great visuals. A winner once again.

great to hear that it went off, like i knew it would. i stayed in bloorcourt and held down the fort. this area is so much fun now (not that it ever had a problem to begin with, but not really a nightlife area). i dont know if i really need to be a part of the larger music scene any more. but if i had my druthers i would hit a mansion party.

p.s. i have developed a strange artistic complex lately. my opinions about music and clubbing have gone pete tong.

Dirty Girl mansion is not a place, but a group of people who throw parties, among them the Pop Kult parties at the Gladstone.

Elliott: I take it you went to the Piston? Or did you check out Bassline also? And what do you mean about your opinions about music and clubbing? are they deaf now? :p

That was a quality night out.
The Mansion crew really know what they're doing. That's the fourth party that i've attended of theirs and i've been impressed every time.

Great varied music, a positive hip young crowd, and a brilliant venue (a church!) made for one of the finest nights out this year.

That was a great jam. Para One was great as was John Roman. But the venue was the real highlight, what a gorgeous church, and to have it filled with a great crowd, was a real treat. One of the best nights I've had out all year.

Yeah the Mansion guys are doing really cool things. Great parties with really happy positive cool people.

Music can be really eclectic though. Little flow with sudden changes in style, volume, tempo and mood. But it seems to work well for the ADD nature of the 20 something crowd.

That's one of the highlights of their gigs. The Jimmy Edgar / XI / Actress show was a prime example of how an eclectic evening works.

More promoters need to follow suit and mix up the styles.

This actually was the major detraction for the night... seemed like very poor programming unless intentional, and then it was just ADD styles, which isn't really my thing. Whoever was nearer to the end of the night seemed to be running out of house tunes as some really old and worn out tracks were played.

Venue and sound was great, and it was a good mixed crowd. Subtract 1 point for the washroom situation.

Looking forward to the Rob Hood event in mid-December at the ex-flamenco place at college and bathurst. Hopefully that corner remains clean enough for this.

yes they were; it was great; the music was fun, not that boring tick-tocky gallopey stuff that drives me away - you would have liked it octo.

I really dug that too. I loved how by the end of his set Para One was dropping all sorts of classic hip hop jams. Which makes sense given his background as a hip hop producer. It was actually a really enjoyable range of tracks in his set, ranging from Parisian house of the Institubes variety, through to bassy techno, disco and finally classics.

See, JamesM? Someone who can put it in better <music geek> terms than I can.

I don't have ADD, I just don't care for anything that goes on and on and never seems to get anywhere :)

I agree, in my opinion, Mansion are indeed one of the city's top event producers at the moment. A definitely breath of fresh air in the scene. They started off building their network in UfT's sororities and frats and quickly rose within the last 2 years to doing the biggest and best independent music events in the city.
