Victim attacked with smashed beer bottles, police say

A brutal attack in which as many as 15 people swarmed a man and cut him with broken beer bottles has left the victim recovering in hospital with disfiguring wounds.
The man, in his early 20s, was in the area of Duncan and Richmond Streets around 3:15 a.m. when he got into a verbal argument with another man.
A larger group approached the victim during the dispute and began beating him in an alleyway, cutting his face and stabbing him in the abdomen with broken glass bottles.
The victim was later transported to St. Michael's Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his wounds, which were not considered life-threatening.
Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
