A brutal attack in which as many as 15 people swarmed a man and cut him with broken beer bottles has left the victim recovering in hospital with disfiguring wounds.

The man, in his early 20s, was in the area of Duncan and Richmond Streets around 3:15 a.m. when he got into a verbal argument with another man.

A larger group approached the victim during the dispute and began beating him in an alleyway, cutting his face and stabbing him in the abdomen with broken glass bottles.

The victim was later transported to St. Michael's Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his wounds, which were not considered life-threatening.

Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.

I also saw a girl getting beaten up by a guy last night on Richmond, the other guy that was with them had to hold the guy off. But then the girl starting crying and hugging the guy that was beating her up.... and they walked away together, girl still sobbing.
