I was recently told by a firend I was playing at a party I didn't know about... then I hit up Numb and picked up a flyer. There I was on the flyer for this "Dark Knight" party, pic and all.

"I don't remember being booked for this. Early senility?"

Anyways, last night Jason M phones me and tells me they were asking him to ask me to play.

Well, I can't make it. But now I'm the flyer and people will think I'm a flake.

Has this happened to anyone else? I find this type of behaviour very disrespectful and rude.

If you're giong to put anyone on your flyer, CONTACT, BOOK, and CONFIRM them first. It's only the most basic form of promoter etiquette.

apparently there was a paladin vs sos battle booked for the last empire/numb party after len had specifically said it was not possible. then that party got cancelled for other reasons.

This happened to me a few years ago at a Nightmare party. Actually it wasn't Nightmare but one of the spinoff promotions with one or two of the guys from Nightmare and one of their other friends... or something like that.

It sucked because I was booked to play in Kingston that same night, and I left several messages on the infoline for them to get back to me, just to find out what the deal is. I never heard back from them, and decided that I'd swing by that party first (which was in Toronto) just to see if I could play early, since I was playing pretty late in Kingston.

I get there, and I'm told that they "heard" that I wasn't going to be playing so they replaced me with someone else. Then I'm stuck taking a fucking 2am bus to Kingston (I HATE the bus), because I turned down a ride opportunity so I could at least swing by this other party that I was on the flyer for.

Was told they'd make it up to me and never heard anything again.

Oh yeah and this is while I was still living in London so it's not like I could just take the subway down to this party and then go back home. I had all my weekend shit with me that I was lugging around like a homeless person.

That's awful Pete! See that's the thing... I was going to try to twist my shcedule to play for these guys, but why should anyone?

Nobody should bend backwards to play a gig they weren't booked for. It's just disrespectful for a promoter to do that.

That happend to me twice with Nightmare when they were just starting. It didnt really bother with me because like I said if my schedule is free I will play.

It happens when promoters are in a rush to make the flyer & they cant contact you... blah blah blah.

its not really right,
but thats the main excuse I hear from time to time.

I remember that happening to me @ one of those science center raves. And the crazy part is the promoter then told me what I would be earning..... like I was his HO or something.. :rolleyes:

you deserve more respect than that.
shit happens.. learn from it & move on.

do you have a webpage with your event listings on it?
I find that helps me a lot... atleast if you're away.

Walk into record shop, pick up flyer, my name on it, WTF!!

And a kicker! They stole typefont images and designs off my website and put them on the flyer.
