Magazine Internships

I just got turned down for the magazine internship I applied for at Canadian House & Home.

It is part of my program to do an internship for six weeks, and the course coordinator *does* set up placements for us, but all the other jobs at magazines that he has found for us are in editorial.

So! Does anyone here work at a magazine or have any connections that I could use? It would be for an unpaid internship, so it is a win-win situation. I am looking for something in marketing, ad sales, circulation, production, or design.

the few people I know in the Toronto biz are all in editorial, and probably at mags you wouldn't be too interested in, or newspapers, but we can talk later in the week if you want.

The worst part is is that I feel stabbed in the back. The girl who got the job isn't really available to work--she just went in for the interview to get to know them in case they might have something available for her later. Somehow she *miraculously* made time in her busy schedule to do this....even though she didn't really want it.

she works for a new magazine called "verve" targetted at high school students. i mentioned this thread to her and she told me to pass on her email address.

or try editor@tribe.ca (electronic music based mag catering to a bunch of cliquey, whiny, spoiled party kids who live on the internet. )

klublife and fast forward may also be possibilities.
