I tried a SMC reset but no change. The light on the magsafe tip has been a bit erratic for quite some time -- usually going dim after a while (though always the right color) but now it's only showing a VERY faint green glow. The battery menu says not charging and the profiler says connected but not charging.

any ideas? I have 35% until im dead.

Is the Magsafe connector loose at all. Take it to an Apple store, and ask to try another charger. Hopefully its not the power connector on the logic board

i have tried cleaning it with alcohol pad. It is loose. I guess im off to the apple store on college st. tomorrow. Repairs are crazy expensive.

there is no apple store on college street

also, there is no "power connector on the logic board" of a macbook, per se. there is a separate internal magsafe unit in between the adapter's head and the logic board itself. its very possible that that unit has failed and not the MLB itself. the magsafe in is considerably cheaper than a new MLB

in my experience, if the light on the adapter is flickering or dim the issue is often in the adapter itself, not the computer. when you wrap the adapter up to travel with it do you use the provided two prongs to ensure the joint where the cord meets the brick doesn't get strained?

I thought there was a store at college and spadina. south west corner?

A new magsafe at futureshop is 109 dollars.
There is some dude on craigslist selling them for 50 dollars.

I just hope it is the magsafe and not the logicboard. Thanks for the tips videotronic. I dont any traveling with the macbook, but no i dont use the two prong thing. I actually had no idea what it was for?

Computer Systems Center at College and Spadina SW corner is indeed an Apple Authorized Reseller and Repair Specialist.

yes but its not an apple store.

keep in mind the distinction between the magsafe adapter (the thing you can buy at futureshop) and the magsafe board, which is inside the computer and has to be swapped out by a tech. one or both could be causing your issue.

I bought one for 85 bucks at a video store in the junction. All is working now. Im glad it was the cord and not the computer itself. I will be more careful not to crimp the cord and keep this straight.
    thanks for the tips.

was it used? if not its probably one of the chinese knockoffs.

at that point id say a)you got ripped off, cause they sell for about $14 USD on ebay and b)keep a close eye on that thing..they get *wicked* hot and they have mos def not passed any sort of standards testing.

DVshop is legit, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I used to buy gear there when I lived in the Junction.
