loxy and ink @ turbo

what a night! i have to be honest and say that i wasn't expecting much from loxy and ink. both of them are great producers but i've never been a huge renegade hardware fan. eitherway, they both threw down a great back to back set. heard a lot of yummy dubs, some smooth and consistent mixing and the crowd was pure vibes. no negativity at all. it was great to see loxy again and someone definitely has to bring ink up some more (i can't believe it was his first time in toronto). and it was defnitely a nice surprise to hear fearless on the mic. it's been a while since i heard that voice...

marcus and mystical also spun a wicked back2back set. these two definitely work well with eachother (a lot of dj's, especially in drum and bass, cannot pull this off). i'm totally in love with the first track that marcus dropped (all i know is it's a swift tune...can't rememebr what it's called tho). what's more to say...perfect mixing, programming and a great warm up to loxy and ink.

ruckus also spun a great warm up set to start the night off. it was too bad there weren't more people there to appreciate it. can't wait for empire tonight.

maybe I expected too much from ink and loxy, probably because they are representatives of the renegade hardware crew this time around...but i was kinda dissapointed.

I'll admit i was a little tired coming in but their set did not ignite the jungle flame inside of me! No heavy tearers and most of the prolonged build-ups went nowhere or into mediocrity.most of the composite was very linear, not really providing what i was looking for,the only real highlight in their stop and go set were those few dillinja style hooks I was hoping to hear more of!

that's cool though, I saw and that was enough for me that night

all in all, it was Ok...I thing being a little blitzed was keeping me form leaving earlier!

DIE...next week, should be a little more rockin' to say the least!!

No negativity? did you not see cat woman and her crew starting fights? Two or three times fights almost broke out , near the front. Mostly security got ontop of it before it kicked up though.
Aside from that Ave, I would agree with you that there was no negativity. "Always a rotten apple in the bunch."
In terms of their tunes, most were sweet, but a few were just plain unaccetable, no if ands or buts about it.
im stooked(sp?) for Dj Die .

I found the crowd to be aight for the most part. Cat woman's two thugs got the boot actually, and she was kinda lost looking later on in the night.. She was mad hot tho..

Marcus and Mystikal blew my f'in mind.. Their set was SO tight, I loved it. Ink and Loxy were pretty happenin', but nothing too spectacular really. I was a little dissapointed by them. The dubs they played were nice, but nothing that made me wanna jump up.

Ruckus put on a GREAT opening set as well. Definitely a great night. Looking forward to DJ Die this Friday.

Hands down, this was the WORST DnB set I have ever heard in my entire life. The programming/track selection was god awful, the mixing was half assed and why Loxy and Ink spin together when their sytles are SO different is beyond me. Turbo should have paid us to listen to their set.

The night progressed as follows....Loxy would throw down a decent track (yes, some dubs, but nothing unique or overly interesting)which had potential to get the crowd going...the following track would be a bit better...then Ink would come on and slow the pace down and bore the shit out of the crowd. bahhh...I don't even want to talk about it.

I hate to say this, but imo Turbo is finished. The turnouts I have seen the past few times I've been there have been bleak, the new clientele are new school jungle thugs, with lots of attitude, don't dance and instead walk around acting like they're the shit "what, what" and no one should get in their way cuz they listen to DnB.

All in all, thanks for all the good times over the past couple years Turbo, but your days are numbered. I might check out Die this Friday, because a lot of friends are going, but I think I'll be looking for a new DnB venue in the future.

Later!
Dan

p.s. If you don't get the turnout you expected don't go increasing cover to ridiculous rates ($25!?!?!?!?!??!?!). I had a few friends come down to meet up with us later in the night and were told cover had been increased...needless to say we didn't see them.

For me, Ink and Loxy dropped a nice set. I wasnt planning on hitting turbo that night, but as fate would have it, i ended up there in the middle of marcus' and mystical's set. And from that point on my night ran quite smoothly.

Ive been really disappointed with turbo recently (for all the reasons mentioned above) but I thought it was a much better night than Ray Keith.

Ink and Loxy mixed well, and played a nice rolling original set. The sound was good, and Fearless outta no where made my night!

Even Caddy sounds much better over darker beats.... only reason being though he cant run his mouth as well... lol

All in all, turbo is falling short of what it used to be... but that was the first night in a long time i enjoyed DnB upstairs.

This is exactly why i stopped going to Turbo long ago...also got tired of going to jungle nights and no one was dancing...wtf is the point of going....Lush in London has a way better atmosphere on a Friday night.

i got there before 11 and cover was 20$. it's a regular thing for clubs to increase their cover charge after a certain time (11 or 12.00 p.m.).

Yeah I know, but Friday it just wasn't coming out right. As I mentioned there was no solid build up...programming/track selection was some of the worst I've encountered.
