Looking to buy a compact tripod for my P&S Digital camera

I want a small tripod for my Canon Elph camera, so I can take pics without the flash in poor lighting conditions.

But what are good ones that are extremely compact, but expand pretty high?

Compact is the idea though, something I stow away in my backpack and carry around with me like I do my camera.

you can get ones like tha but they are not stable. one cancels the other out.

you could use a clamp with a 1/4" threaded spigot on it so you could clamp your camera to stuff.

Often i'll use these things:

They're called "rocks" or "boulders" and are hella-effective at drowning out vibrations and keeping your camera stable.

You can pick em up anywhere and they're crazy-cheap.

I saw a really nice one that folds up really nicely at Black's Eaton Centre on sale for $25.

ditto to the bean-bag idea. Plus they're super cheap if you get them from a toy store as opposed to a camera store.
