I need to back up tons of mostly pictures and audio files.

Looking to spend up to around 200 ish.

If anyone can point me towards any hard drives in particular it would be appreciated.

If you're going external (for about the same price) get an enclosure that's firewire 800/400 (for performance) and USB1/2 (for compatiblility) - then over time you can house an assortment of different drives as your needs change.

Yeah you could build your self one (its really easy).

Just get an enclosure like sir c said at any computer specailty store and then buy a lap top HD. You will get a bigger HD for $200 this way than buying a premade LaCie one (which is what I would get if I wasnt going to build one my self).
