Living with germaphobes.

I HATE it! I'm not an extremely dirty guy but if someone thinks I'm about to clean the bathroom and hoover the house every day because they're afraid of the big scary germs they've got another thing coming.

Other things that get under my skin
- You don't have to bleach your son's schoolbag if my dog bumps into it.
- If you're going to wait until I leave the room after I've washed the dishes and then wash them again, I'm no longer washing them in the first place

I feel like going out of my way to bring extra germs into the house just to spite her

It's a combination of ignorance, stupidity, and obsessive compulsive disorder...

Ignorance, because each of us has over 500 different species of bacteria / fungi/ arthropods living on us. Most are symbiotic.

Stupidity, because 5 minutes after you rid something of "germs", it has 90% of them back again... there is no such thing as a long-lasting antiseptic... you have to be pretty stupid to think that your "cleaning" is doing a goddamed thing.

Obsessive compulsive disorder... tough to deal with, since there is no cure.... SSRIs are sometimes helpful (though not often), and interestingly, there is an ongoing study using psilocybin (shroooms) to treat it....
