how can you have a 20 minute dj competition with a trance dj....all that is required is to 'transition' between tracks twice, or three times at the most

I agree.

But due to time constraints we had to make the sets approximately 15 minutes.

However, you could nail three amazing mixes. All competitions are going to be subjective to a certain extent.

Still, if we can do it at one of the campus clubs, I'd like to stretch the sets out to 30 minutes.

That'll give everyone plenty of time to play...

how do you compare 20 mins of trance to 20 mins of hiphop? in terms of 'degree of difficulty' and 'talent', there's no comparison imho. you could give them 60 mins each and it still wouldn't matter

god i hate top 40 hip hop djs, so many of them think any song mixes with anyother.

ohh god stop this horror!!

thank god its over!

why must we always curse everyones talent...not everyone is a superstar dj, so why not just give them credit for trying...i dont think any of these competitors are prettending to be a "Headliner" and may still be learning how to mix, scratch and whatever....cut them some slack, and let them try...

you dont get any better by not practicing...and for some this may be there practice time...

that is just my opinion...

practicing should be done before going on air.

otherwise people, such as those of us bitching, will remember the name of....well actually i dont remember that last djs name...sneh....but if i could i would remember him as a shitty programmer/mixer

this is a chance for them to show what talent they have.
if they are practicing on air then they deserved to get slammed for it.

Werd!

I'm a Trance DJ and I can scratch better than the last guy.

The guy who's on now is good though

I'm not knocking their ability, you have to start somewhere, but why in the hell would they enter this "competition" if they sound like that? I sure as hell wouldn't. Some of my friends think I'm pretty good, I think I'm shite and refuse to make a CD let alone enter some competition? ..

That's just me though.

What criteria are they judging with?

How are you supposed to compare a hip hop turntablist to a Jungle DJ? It's like beat juggling vs. beat matching.
