liquor laws

hi guys, i'm an ex vancouverite now living in Montreal.. been here for 3 or 4 years now.

I heard that the liquor laws have been changed so that clubs can stay open until 4AM and serve alcohol until 3:30AM ???

I'm just wondering about the truth of this and how it's affected things... are clubs and bars actually staying open that late? any new places opening up? more people going out? are places still crowded at 4AM? bigger names coming to town? how has it affected the illegal afterhours scene? and can you smoke in clubs now too?

this might give me reason enough to come home.. :)

I believe that the provincial laws have changed, that's true. However, the municipal laws stating that bars stop serving alcohol at two still exist. So all in all, nothing's really changed. :(

This is the way I understand things. Of course it's been awhile since I've hit the clubs. Damn final exams!
