Life at Yonge & Bloor?

It looks like there is a very good possibility I'll be moving to Yonge & Bloor. Has anybody lived or worked here? any advice to offer? anything I might not know?

I think I'll be spending way more time on the Hemingway's patio. :D

i used to work in the manulife centre..

say hi to the singing old guy outside bloor subway station

and remember that you can always walk underground in that area, even if it takes 10 extra minutes because you will get lost.

I worked at Isabella/Yonge...I think it's a great area...within walking distance of , tons of stores, the gay neighbourhood, the Eaton Centre, the Varsity and Uptown movie theatres, Chapters...there's lots of choice for lunch (what I think of as an employee :>). I personally would rather live further south and west, but it's still good in terms of amenities.

talk tv is on channel 74, its basically a show where there's a panel of people talking about various issues, I think the program itself is situated around Yonge and Bloor because they're always on the streets talking to people, I think i've been caught in a few shots myself

I used to work at the Toronto Reference Library. Say hi to the scroll guy, the "Jesus is Coming!" guy and Ben Kerr for Mayor.

Still around.
I am in the area as well, loving Manulife Centre for being a self-contained universe. Food, alcohol, books, pharmacy, dry cleaning, postal services, expensive food, fine china, Bay Bloor Radio. All you need.

My brother lives at 55 Bloor East and one of his big complaints is hearing machine gunfire from the film makers that film in the area.

Regardless, I think he's a lucky bum and I'm very jealous.

I will think the same of you if you move there :p

I work over @ Bloor & Jarvis, the area is really interesting a bit of everything. personally I like watching bums&suits converse, it's a strange sight....there's lots of places to eat and all the necessary items can be found... enjoy....

That makes the whole move worthwhile, Hemmy's patio rocks!!

What out for the little old man in the beret who stands at the corner of Bay and Bloor screaming the vilest curses at oncoming traffic, he's amusing but don't catch his eye, you'll become his next target.

The women and food!

Bumbaclat,

Bud.. all i can say is...watch out for the good looking people out around that area. I've been living @ Yonge and Erwin (1055 Bay street. Polo Club 1) for the past 5 years and there is no way i can even think of leaving this area. Work is 1 minute away from my condo, as well as my studio/office (http://djshows.com).
Plus i can't for get the food selection you have around here...
Trust me brah~ you'll love it...
he he he

LOL

:D

Cheers,

That's what I was thinking. I live on the Danforth now and really enjoy the food selection here. I didn't go to the grocery store at all for a 3 month period. Just ate out/ordered in every meal.

I'm pretty excited, I think I'll really like living there.

Bumbaclat, FYI, Beer Store right on Yonge St, just south of Bloor on the east side. Also , for your thai food fix, check out Green Mango on Yonge, again just south of Bloor. Good to hear your moving but I thought the Danforth was a pretty sweet hood too?

It is a great neighbourhood but like the Jefferson's I'm moving on up! It's condo time, no more subterranean existence for this lad.
Rent is for suckers anyway. :)

C-nice, thanks for the Beer Store location, I was trying to think of where the nearest one.

The closest I could think of was the liquor store in the Manulife Centre.
