Lexmark Laser Printers

Ok...I have wanted to buy a laser printer for a long time but I've been reluctant becuase they are obviously pricey. But I now have the option to buy a gently used Lexmark laser printer from work. So how do they compare to the rest on the market? I'm not sure of the model number, but I know that it's around 1 year old. It prints about 5000 pages per toner cartridge, which I'm told is pretty good. Is this a completely dumb purchase...should I just stick to bubble jet printers?

Hmmm...I only see two printer threads...much less than the sometimes excessive weekend threads or threads discussing terrorist stuff...not to mention the ever lovable pic threads!

WHY??? I hate it when people say stuff like this without giving me any sort of reason!!! What makes Lexmark shitty compared to other laser prnters? Or do you just have a hate for someone who works for lexmark? :p

I know a lot of people who are very satisfied with their bubble jet printers.

Lexmark's Inkjet are ok. I have never had a problem with mine. They do not have many home laserjet models. Maybe the business models are ok. They ain't cheap though. I have only used HP or Brother @ work.

Their business line Optra Lasers are anything but shit. They are a work horse and will go years. We have an Optra R+ here at work and it's been going steady (and heavily used) for 4+ years with no problems/repairs. I use to work at place that sold Lexmark printers. (The Optra business line). Sun Microsystems uses them in all their education centre's. They ARE good, I can't speak for any other Lexmark's though.
