...this should be fun...

...it boggles my mind that more people don't take offense to this character from the Simpsons. It is a gross racial sterotype and I don't know how any one can justify it...

"But everyone is made fun of on the Simpsons.."

but no one else is made fun because of thier race...Does the black doctor have huge lips and is a petty criminal?...are the jewish characters miserly and scheming? So why is it ok to have a bumbling East Indian store clerk?

your all fuct

I await many responses!!!!

They make fun of all kinds of group of people:

The white-trash Cletus
Ned, the god botherer.

It would be too overt to just make fun of minority groups just because they are minority groups. See?

Ming.

...I find it to be a much more savage sterotype than the ones listed above...also he is a major character so its something you see almost every episode...

What do you find so stereotypical about him?

Satire is, according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, "A literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn," or "trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly." To clarify the definition of satire in an easier to understand way, satire pokes fun at a human vice and contains an element of the truth.

people who are closed minded and have nothing to back up their arguments, and can't admit when they are wrong are cool

Jews miserly and scheming? Like in Seinfeld?

And I don't see anything about Apu that isn't completely true; the truth can't be insulting! The accent sounds completely accurate, and he's not a bumbling clerk, he's actually quite astute.

Other things that are carved on an everyday basis:

White people

Black people (whoever mentioned the doc as not being typecast hasn't seen the "looking back" episodes - Hibbard has an afro, a mohawk like Mr.T, etc.)

Catholics - blatantly - in fact I think this demographic is poked at the most out of all of em.

Native Indians

Poor white trash (Cleetus)

Chinese

Homosexuals

Old people

In fact, pretty damn near anything and everything falls under the axe at one point or another. And its funny! Thing is not to dwell on a certain thing cause then something else happens..........

jungleboy has a valid argument. a lot of people made the same argument in denouncing jerry lewis's portrayal of asians.
