hoping the leafs will win the next 2 and Boston lose or tie their last game in order for the Leaf to play Montreal in the 1st round. Now thats a match up !

^^^Although I agree that a Leafs Vs Habs Matchup will be something out of a storybook, im a little nervous about that actually happening. The Habs are notorious for stepping up their game against the Leafs...much more so than any other team. Add to that the inspirational return of Saku Koivu and youve got yourself a potent mixture of a first round underdog suprise win!

Id rather go with Ottawa first round, who looks like a team that's so easily beatable. Then Montreal in later rounds. That would be quite the epic playoff matchup.

However Boston Vs Montreal in the first round sounds like quite the epic series to me as well! Its all about the original 6 matchups.

I see glorious things happening for the Leafs this year folks...and you heard it here first.

OH---MY---DOG!!!!

IT'S ALMOST PLAYOFF TIME!!! Can you smell it in the air? I can. The smell of drunken boyfriends who don't get off of the couch at night for A MONTH AND A HALF, the smell of beer spilled into and ashtray full of roaches and BBQ corn chips.

..the smell of Blue and White blood raging in yet another year of hope for glory.

I think Boston will lose its last game, the Buds will win their last two, thereby taking first in the conference and facing Montreal in the first round.

I'm not going to utter my prediction for the leafs this playoff season. I made my predicition at the beginning of the year, and will not raise it to my lips again until the last seconds tick off their season, right or wrong.

I LOVE THE FUCKING PLAYOFFS!!!

PS Don't count on ANY team being "easily beatable" once the second season begins. Strange things have and do happen in the playoffs.

Its gonna be tough for Toronto to score first in the conference as they have to count on a lose by the Bruins and 2 loses by the Flyers. Plus they have to sweep the weekend with no Reichel, Roberts and renberg. Cuju will prolly see some action tonight as well.

I think if the Leafs get out of the first round, no matter who they play, they can go pretty far, possibly to the finals.

If the Leafs win both games and Boston loses its remaining game, it doesn't matter what the Flyers do, as they can finish with a maximum of 99 points, whereas the Leafs would have 100.

It is concievable that Boston, Toronto and Philly could end up tied with 99 points, then Philly would take first on most wins, but Toronto would take second, having more wins than Boston, and also taking them 4-1-0 in their head to head this season.

Obviouly I think the Leafs can slide through the first round and fight through the second. The only team in the bottom end of the playoffs that scares me a little is the Islanders. I think they will be the surprise this season in the playoffs.

I see Chicago in the West on the same keel as the Islanders. Surprising seasons after YEARS of mediocrity for both clubs, back in the playoffs for the first time in years, and not sneaking in, either. Full on consistent seasons which must have built so much of that elusive "team character".

I agree that Montreal will be a dogged opponent as well. A club with as much hallowed history back in the playoffs for the first time in what, 4 or 5 years? They could make a good run on pure emotion, also fuelled by Koivu's comeback.

BBB.

..but Detroit is the scariest.

noooo...not about your basic points, but about Chicago making a lot of noise in the playoffs...the players have absolutely no confidence in their goaltending right now and you of course know how key that is...i'd be very surprised if Thibault could just turn it on after his poor play of late

Chicago's goaltending has suffered of late so personally, I wouldn't put too much stock in them to go very far. As for our beloved Leafs, they'll have to fight this recent injury bug if they really want to do damage in the playoffs. Even though Cujo is coming back soon, he hasn't played a game in quite some time and will be rusty, if I were Quinn, I'd get him in a game this weekend to shake off the pre-playoff rust so he doesn't tank in the playoffs.

And, I think I'd rather face the Senators than the Habs as Montreal will be riding high with Saku's return. Couple that with great goaltending, Dougie Gilmour (a proven playoff performer) and Yanic Perrault, they might be the sleeper team in the East.

Well, they beat Pittsburgh last night, so a win tonight coupled with anything less than a win for Boston over the Penguins will mean

1st PLACE IN THE EAST FOR THE LEAFS

and their second 100 point season in team history.

Considering the key injuries of late, the Leafs should be pumped about their season and ready to raise hell in the playoffs.

OTTAWA IS GETTING SMOOSHED TONIGHT.

Score prediction: 4-3 Leafs in OT.

All I know is that the playoffs are going to be crazy. Could be upsets all over the place. This is the only good thing about having 32 teams - only half of them get into the playoffs, meaning we're going to see some great hockey.
I love the spring.

There are only 30 teams as far as I know. :p But yeah, some of the games are already in playoff mode. Last night the Flames vs Oiler was like a playoff game. I am sure the Leafs-Sens game tonight will be as well.

Too bad neither the Flames nor the Oilers are even going to hit the post-season.

BBB.

Boo! to Canadian teams not making the playoffs. :(

my bad. I thought it was up to 32 this year.

Tonight should be interesting. Both teams may try and send a little message to the other, some head games prior to the playoffs. I want to see lots of hitting, right out of the blocks.

Is Joseph playing tonight?

SneakyPete

Yes, but prior to last night's game the Oilers were trying to make the playoffs, and the Flames did their best to prevent that from happening(which they accomplished).

Pete: Yeah I know, I'm just sad that neither of them are in.

BBB.

I'd like to see what Iginla would do in the playoffs.

PS kennyboy, Schwab's supposed to start tonight.

If Schwab goes tonight, what do you do when the playoffs start, and I know this will be argued and debated about for a long time.

I guess Quinn is wanting to rest Cujo for another few days to get him ready to go, but Schwab has really played great. He's kept them in a lot of games when they shouldn't have been.

And then if Schwab starts in the playoffs, does that mean Cujo's gone next year? Should be interesting to see what happens.
