Everyone is wondering why Toronto hasn't made any trades since watching teams they are competing against has stockpiled (Ottawa = Bondra, Rob Ray - Philly = (peanut butter &)Zhamnov, Markov). Two words for all y'all in tribesville..... Chris Pronger Personally, I believe JFJr is in the hunt for a BONAFIDE STUD defenseman and his love for the Prong dates back to when JFJr worked in the Blues organization. There has been some talk that Pronger is available and if that's the case - look for Toronto to push (since they lost out on Blake a couple of years back and Hatcher in the Summer). Don't quote me on it but don't be surprised if there's atleast some inquiries made... actually.... this is the 'fattyp hot pick' of the month!

I doubt a franchise player like pronger will be traded, we'll prolly see Tkachuk or Weight get dealt before.

St Louis is still a VERY good team without a goalie so to see them blow up their team just doesn't make sense. I mean they are only a couple of points out of the playoffs.

St Louis has a pretty huge payroll and there looking to cut down in a big way. The thing is if the Leafs get him, we'll be giving up at least 3 good prospect players .

Regardless of JFJ's interest in Pronger, he's not going to be coming here.

The Blues are 4 points out a playoff spot. Pronger is the anchor of their defense. He's one of the elite defenseman in the league. We're not talking about a Chicago/Carolina/Washington type fire sale here. If he is indeed up for a trade, we'll have to give up alot to get him. They aren't going to let someone like that go for rookies, prospects and and dradft picks.

Add to that the fact that Pronger is a free agent at the end of the season. The Leafs aren't going to give up anything too major for the services of someone over 2 months, going into a lockout next season.

Regardless of whether or not you agree that this is smart, it is indeed the mindset of the organization. If it wasn't, they would have already snatched up Gonchar.

The Blues is not far off from a playoff spot, if they trade Pronger it would be a disastrous PR move for them. Had they been out of the playoff hunt earlier I could see them moving Pronger.

Is Pronger a restricted or unrestricted free agent after this year? They Leafs should try and sign him.
