this was my first time seeing king sunshine - or any other live house band for that matter - and i was really impressed! it was so neat to see the house sound that i know and love being created by live instruments right before my eyes. it gave the music a more human touch...it gave the music SOUL!!!
and damn, kenny bobien has an amazing voice - perfect for house music! he could hit these super-high notes...i thought it was a female vocalist at first. he's definitely got SOUL - very entertaining!
there were a couple other djs spinning, as well, but i never really got into their sets - they just couldn't compete with the live music......nor could they compete with the wikked visuals that drew my eyes for the majority of the night!
congratulations to the DGR crew - headwinds, andrew, marc and ian ( www.deepgreenrobots.com ) - on a successful debut. they provided the evening's eye-candy. the images were colourful, SOULFUL, inspiring...they gave the venue the atmosphere it needed to support the classy, deep house vibe. i hope to see their work again sometime soon!
on a whole, i had a good night! it was nice to see something different - a welcome change from the kinds of events that i usually go to.
