I haven't been to System on a Friday for a little while and was looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, I hated his set. Thought it was boring and those cheesy vocal snippets he kept adding were a total mood killer. Just when it would begin to rev up he would kill it some inappropriate crash down. I never broke a sweat. My girl friend was laughing her ass off exactly predicting when he would screw up the next tune.
I got there late and never saw the residents and regret it. I'll never see (free or other wise) "Superstar" DJ Krappoki again.
We should have gone to see Kenny.
Cheers,
Joel

I followed Scaife over from the nxne at about 11 - a true blue supadupar T.o spin-star!!

... ok so keoki was having some slippery fingers, but I was still dancing from the minute I walked in... and proceeded to have one of the best nights I've had out in a while - it *was* fun damnit! props to all the wicked people who know what the breathe vibe is all about

I love Breathe Fridays to death, but the music in the main and back room is basically the same. In all due respect, it is pointless to have two rooms playing the same music. I heard KC Flight "Voices" being played at the exact same time in both rooms. I liked it better when Paul Walker was in the pit. TECHNO!!

I disagree a bit with you Nesta. Obviously you're going to hear some overlap once in a while.

Luke and Carlos play a much housier end of spectrum in my mind than the music you hear in the main room. My opening sets do stay housy but if I'm playing more peaktime I bring it up into harder/bigger stuff that you don't hear back there. Also, the opening slot 12-2 in the back room is made up of up and comers, so you can't control what they are going to play.

Luke and Carlos have also done an amazing job at running that backroom, bringing a core following of people to the club that are interested in hearing them. You go back there and you're guaranteed some wicked music that's perfectly balanced between hard and warm.

WOO HOO!!! June 15 baby!

Its only the back room, and luke says you could basically play anything you want.

I hear what you're saying Matt, but I just prefer two very different and distinct sounds in each room. I personally would prefer techno or funky, soulful house in the back room. Just my $0.02. Peace!

I was extremely unipressed with keoki's set.

ALL I WANT IS SOME GOOD MUSIC DAMNIT!

All I wanted to do was dance and not only could i not get into what he was playing but it actually put me in a bad mood. That's ok though cause Breathe is going to redeem itself ALL SUMMER LONG what an incredible lineup. i'm so excited.

Best part of the night was the amazing masage I got in the back room (no i wasn't on e, I've just been working at the computer too long)

Steve Mackers makes his debut in the back room of System. Be there or be square!

Half of the time we do have guys who play "soulful, funky house". If you check out all the wicked local talent showcased every night from 12-2 you'll see that it's different every week. We've had house, techno and breaks djs back there...actually all three styles within the last month or so.

That was a HUGE trainwreck he pulled at NxNE, although I didn't hear anything that bad at System.

I think I remember a tribe issue where it had Keoki teaching you how to smoke crystal from a light bulb in ? easy steps.

Someone post it if you got it (too funny)
