Alright, im a big fan of Larry Clark, who did Kids, Bully ( one of my fav's ) , another day in paradise, and this recent film "Ken Park", which is banned from most of the world, including US and Canada.
I download and watched it last night and i definately see why its banned.I liked the movie, i just though it was TOO over the edge, just wondering if anyn has seen it, and if so, what did you think?

downloaded the second half of the movie. watched about 5 minutes of it before i had to remove myself from the situation. very fuckin disturbing, and it takes a lot to shock me.

there is no denying that the underbelly of society is full of violence, drugs, and sex, but larry clark creates a raw and no holds barred window into the parts of society that we don't like to recognize exists.

i'll watch the rest of the movie just so i can see how it all comes together, but i'm going to have to prep myself for that much of a kick in my face. woah.

just finished watching ken park. this movie was all over the place with regards to story and character development. the story just didn't flow, and at times i didn't know what was going on. shocking? yah. disturbing? fuck yah. a good movie? i'm glad i downloaded it, kinda questioning whether or not i should burn it for future viewing.

kids was leaps and bounds better than this movie. imho, if ken park doesn't get released in the states, its no big loss.

- that rental at best guy

- that still disturbed guy

does the sex seem superfluous?

trust me im far from uncomfortable.its just shocking to see a teen sit there and bet off and cum on film (you actually see everything ) , i just wasnt expecting it, theres alot more shit too. but i wont ruin it.

Download Bully too, awesome movie, true story too, plus it has well known actors, and again lots of sex.

And I fucking thought it was terrible. Felt like sketch comedy, only without the comedy.

Really because its banned? Europe i believe is the only place that allows Ken park. Are you thinking of Bully?

Ken park is on the shelves, I rented it a couple of weeks ago. Only in VHS though (Not like I can see anyone getting real uppity about picture quality with the bizarre goings on of this film)

They had Fat Girl when that was banned. The also have a number of other black listed films including Necromantic and Necromantic 2 (imagine soft core Necrophilia porn).

Whats this about?

It's a french coming of age film between two sisters, one thin and one fat. The film is a sexual awakening of sorts and was banned for the last 10 minutes of the film. I thought it was decent, but didn't really care for the ending.

you forgot violence. for squirrley's sake, i won't include spoilers...but the violence is disturbing.

suicide. murder. bondage. violence.

there are way better movies to watch than this one...rental at best.

- that burned it anyways though guy

It's not 'banned'.
I've seen it at plenty of places for rent.

^^ ask justin what he thought of it. we saw it at the festival when it first came out and i was soo fucking mad. it was like a huge ego-trip for the director. it wasn't the content that bothered me, it was the way in which it was done.

and he went way overboard with the shock tactics. definitely not my fave flick, but i'll give it credit only in that it had an effect on me to the point where i'm actually bothering to write about it and bitch about it, as i'm sure the director was hoping.

just so formulaic, self-serving and self-congratulatory in its fight against convention

i loved kids, but i couldn't make it through bully

it was too much and i'm not ashamed to say that sometimes i don't "get" what Larry Clark is trying to do

actually, i sorta get it, i just think that sometimes he fails miserably in his attempt

we came to a certain point in bully, where i could not handle what was going on - and by cannot handle, i mean i saw no point in several scenes...no direction, just "look at me, look what i'm willing to film"

i couldn't watch anymore, made me sick

that's what happens when you're really balsy, you're either awesome, or it sucks

i *may* see gummo, but i'll definitely have to be in a larry clark *mood*

definitely agree with what reflex wrote above about Clark

^^^Wierd...because i though out of all his movies, this was the only one that made sense and an actual story, i highly suggest watching the movie again. If your going to watch any larry clark move, make it bully.
And gummo makes no sense at all, and i dont even think larry clark directed it , did he?

you're right about gummo

it was done by harmony corrine

i found bully expressed a very misogynist viewpoint, and i did not find kids to be that way

i actually made me angry.....i really felt it was glorifying the dominant guys actions

yes i know what happens in the end...i knew it watching the movie too
but it was just too much

the pay-off wasn't worth the lasting impressions he was leaving on young audience (because you know teenagers are watching)

i'm not saying he doesn't have the right to put in on screen, i'm just saying it was disturbing to me on such a level i almost felt like i was hearing ernest zundel give a speech

so yeah - the guys i was with did not feel the same way about it....maybe i'm just *too sensitive*, but again i liked kids

I watched Ken Park and I can understand why it is banned. What I don't get is how KP is banned yet Irreversible isn't  Irreversible is far more disturbing than KP by a mile.
