Justin Roberston @ turbo

TRIBE Promoter
I dont know enough about Justin Roberston to comment beyond the fact that I enjoyed his set....but no more so than Tim Patrick's.

In fact, Stretch & Hooker had the most memorable set, including "Rapture" and my all time favourite house beat "ta ta ti ti ta ti ti ti ti ta ta" (which is sad compared to my favourite breakbeats).

Can anyone tell me what I missed about Justin's set? Do we need a new face in the DJ booth just for the sake of variety?

I did not know too much things about this guy, but i liked his set.
My memory is not too good, so I can not tell you exactly..but I think the set started off with some trancy techno stuff which became kind of like tech house stuff...and then after the richie's orange -, it became pretty hard techno!

amd me just went crazy with it..and then it went back to house somehow..and by the time around3am, it was pretty deep..so slow...lol..
i had alcohol..so i can not fully remember too much<--that is my excuse..but as you all know this already, i do not drink at all usually..so i have low torelance.

anyway, his set was unique...because of his diversity of the genre he chose to spin in his set that nite.

definitely one of the good DJs i thought..
the flow of the set was smooth too

Exactly... that's what I found to be great about his set. He's one of the few DJs that isn't afraid to stray from the typical "DJ Formula" that's becoming too common these days. I'll admit, I'm pretty good at predicting many DJ sets and I was not able to 'predict' where Justin Robertson was going. THAT DOES NOT MEAN HE WAS HARD TO FOLLOW because he still took me on a smoothe journey... but a refreshing one!!!

Great warm-up set by Tim Patrick too!

i had fun....

pretty simple statement. wish i could elaborate more, but that sums it up! we had had a crazy drunk afternoon/evening leading up to turbo so i'm a little foggy on the music. all i know is, i was definately pleasantly surprised by justin robertson. i didn't dance all that much, but that had nothing to do with the music, it was my shoes!

so nice to see all the tribe people out in full force! you guys make me nite!! despite the fact i lost our contest 7-2, i still had a great nite

Robertson didn't do anything for me. I guess that's why I never heard of him before

. You can look at the flow/experimenting of his set OR you can look at the all out assault of killer beats. I look at killer beats.

Tim was on point ---------> Suke.

Thoroughly enjoyed Justin's set. Was it techno? Was it house? Was it progressive? Who cares. It rocked and it kept you guessing. DJs that take chances are what is drastically missing in today's scene. A DJ that can strategically and accurately mix different styles, tempo & mood within one set while maintaining a cohesive feel...that is a far superior DJ to one who can simply ride two tracks over each other for 2 minutes because they are essentially the same style with the same bpm and bassline.

A refreshing set and excellent warm-up by Tim Patrick.

I really enjoyed Justin's set too. Now, if someone can do me a favour and tell me what that old school techno track he threw down around 3am was, I'd appreciate it. I thought it was "Frequency", but then I went home and listened to that and it wasn't it. It's driving me up the bloody wall trying to remember. But I was definately kickin' it hard on that one (and all the other stuff he threw down).

Was that the one we went all mental to? It sounded more breaky to me. I can't figure it out either.

Quite boring house techno, whatever it was. Altho I got there at 3am.

I was downstairs till the jungle room closed for Marcus and Lush's back2back set.

Impressive.

Ya, that's the one. The one that Lori and Ritika looked over and are like "Jay? WTF? I've never seen you kick it that hard before!"

Pfft ... they should look over more often when "Tha Krew" starts kickin' it, right Jo and Svet?

Jo, that last puffy animation thing you posted is bouncing to the beat of the music I'm playing at my desk. It's kinda cute.
