do your homework, fool.
i'm flying to London England this weekend to see Underworld, Krafty Kuts, Adam Freeland, and Atomic Hooligan...why would i diss a breaks fan because they listened to breaks ?
you turned this thread into an anti - scalping issue.

ok, hold on.... Fritz sold ME his ticket for $25...
ok, ok, he made $2.50 off the deal, but i'm not sure it's worth fighting about.

Back to the discussion here:

There are many issues within the scene right now and it has nothing to do with lack of talent or bad productions. There are scores of proven breaks DJs in town as well as a nice crew of up and comers that can rock the dancefloor on any given night. The music, has never been better produced, nor has it ever come out in such great quantities: breaks are being accepted by house nuts everywhere and are being produced by great house and jungle djs too!.

No, the problem isn't the music or the djs. The problem is discrimination, segregation and just all around ignorance of the evolution of our fickle subculture. Only when key people realize that funky, electro, glitchy, housey, booty, bassline, tearout, hiphop, bmore, etc. all belong together in the same forum can we build this scene beyond where it is now.

Acceptance, people. You might not like glitch hop, and she might not like electrobreaks, but we are too small to be divided, and each little subdivision is too small to be sustained for any extended period of time without significant innovation: NEVER STAGNATE. It's so sad that we have become the music snobs that we used to laugh at...

Jump around, scream, yell, meet new people, dance your ass off, HAVE FUN! That's a party... That's how i see it anyway...

I agree with Fritz and Mez. The people make the party and everyone seems to not want to dance and go nuts anymore. Hey Fritz! Next time I see you @ a MIF event we'll both grab a random person and drag them onto the dancefloor and go nuts! It might not change things drastically, but it will help at least two people have fun for a night. Breaks, House, Electro, Funk, Hip Hop, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Country, I love it all! I've never been a part of any "scene" I just go to parties and have fun! That's all anyone should ever do.

Let me tell you something dood... one or two people doing this DOES change things drastically. Me and my friends consistently are the first ones on the dancefloor goofing off and running around screaming and yelling. This creates a vibe for everyone else to feel comfortable with themselves and groove out:

"Wow, Mezzy and Kitty over there are making real asses of themselves, that looks like fun! Mebbe i'll start up a little riot over here."

Ok, they might not actually say that, but when people feel other people are stealing attention, then they don't seem as self-conscious and start dancing. ["I can't possibly look as dumb as Mezzy right now..."]. It works wonders.

SO get out there, take a partner, dosey doe! I don't care what music is playing... have a damn good time and everyone else will too. You'll be surprised what effect one person can really have on a party...

I guess we're a little off topic:

The point was... breaks parties gotta stop being so exclusive, snobby and cliquey.

Be INCLUSIVE, FRIENDLY and open to meeting NEW TYPES OF PEOPLE. Ranting about tearout breaks, poor dancers, scalping, hipster douchebags.... this helps nobody....

haha but ya, really one person truly does make a difference.

and more smiles people!!!
I never used to smile when I dance.

I always had the "I ARE SERIOUS DANCER" "THIS ARE SERIOUS DJ" expression on my face.
Until I realized that no matter how much I danced I was not sending out positive vibes to the people around me. Now I make a conscience effort to smile when I dance. and the reaction I get from people just by simply smiling is amazing.

Ha! HA! Fritz! I dance to breaks in my bedroom every day! Unfortunately I'll be in Ottawa on the night of Monsters Ball, I'll be in a Jazz club snappin' my fingers and bobbin' my head to Antizario. I'm DJing The same night as KC Roberts as well. I'll be @ College Street Bar for mixed bag on the 9th for sure though!
