Jungle is so hot right now.....

Hmmmm ... I don't know. Jungle gets to be a little too much. I don't mean to denigrate anybody's style of music, but a lot of the jungle that is out there sounds pretty much the same. Whenever someone comes up with a new sound, every producer copies it. Some producers don't even take the time to produce new tracks; they just change the bassline or the drum patterns a tiny bit and, voila, a new song, e.g. Dillinja. And what's with the dubplates? Why put out a song that everyone knows but can't buy until six months to a year later? It just doesn't make sense.

it's up to you to seperate the SHITE from the guys who make it to advance it's sound...in other words, there's only 1 paradox, there's only 1 twisted individual, there's only 1 photek...a LOT of stagnant tunes out there...just weed em' out

with that said HOW SICK IS ARCON 2!!???? :D

Thanks. It's OK. I don't think much has changed in jungle, though. It gets people into the scene, though. And that, as Martha Stewart would say, is a good thing. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I am much older now. Musical tastes change. C'est la vie!

I don't disagree with you, but when most of the tunes sound the same, there is a problem with the genre. You can't count on a few people to carry things.

Arcon 2 is still around?!

Don't take this the wrong way, but how has it changed? I really haven't seen anything innovative since 1999. A lot of producers are reaching back to the sounds of 1993 and 1994 for track inspiration.

I know what you mean but you may jsut want to take a listen anyway only beacause this guy brings old skool jungle a new sound. It's pretty cool they way he does it. But I hear you and what you're saying about the way it's changed. It all sounds the same these days. I liked it much more back in the early 90's but what can you do?

inperspective records
teebee and polar
wormhole
klute and the rest of the cetificate 18 camp
paradox and his influence
US dnb...I can name you at least 20 guys since 99
canadian DnB on the map
the emergance of the trncier sound infusing things
HIGH CONTRAST and hospital
hip hop entering DnB
the amount of magazines/websites/message boards dedicated the culture
the art of sampling a LOT better
females taking over!
a WHOLE world entering the stage!!!(fuckin new zealand!??)
BUKEM and good looking
the art of the MIX cd
other than that...yeah,not much has really happened

I can go on and on but really....don't take this the wrong way but you're not listening to the right shit...or not enough of it to warrant any change in your thought...YES, some things have gotten back to days of yore but so has ANY genre of music, that doesn't mean it's gotten so stagnant that it has to back track to get things moving again...it just means there are certain sound movements from the past that SHOULD be re-discovered because it was innovative sound...DnB is HUGE right now and part of the reason is due to the fact that it's GROWING in sound and mind...lots of new producers and have come in and taken over with an innovative quality(BREAKAGE) and this will keep happening...it's future music and will be around for a long time yet...part of realising that is excepting change comes with a bit of formula...happens with everything

Everything you listed has happened a while ago. In fact, Certificate 18 has been around for a VERY long time. North American DnB is atrocious! They just copy what's going on in the UK. Not that the UK is any better. Honestly, I've seen the scene progress since 1991. As it stands, if I was in a coma since 2000, woke up today and turned on the radio to listen to, say, The Propjecy, I would swear it was still 2000. That's my take on things. Oh yes! Other types of music don't reach back to the past the way jungle is. There isn't anything wrong with this per se, but when that becomes one of the sole ways to update the music, there is a serious problem. That's my take on things.

agree to disagree, can't blame me for tryin';) ...I was just using example since 99...and they ALL ring true IMO...and yes certificate 18 has been around but didn't reach it's full potential until around THAT time, only then did the roster take shape

True, true. I think it's just my age. The rougher sounds don't do it for me. All you young 'uns are the problem! ;) Anyway, I still like jungle, but just the old stuff, i.e. anything before 1996. There is SOME good stuff out there, but we just disagree on the amount. It's all music anyway. If I entered a jungle jam and the stuff was going off, I'd get down with my bad self. Indeed, the best memories of partying I have is going to jungle jams.

97-2000 was when it started going down hill, at least from my perspective. Enough interesting things were going on that kept my attention, though.

I'm 27. I started listening to jungle (or at least when it was identified as such) since 1991. In terms of the entire techno spectrum, I've been listening to the stuff since 1987.

Oooooo .... Piper. Jonny L is sick! I love everything he has done and is now doing. Torque was waaaay overrated, I think, but good nonetheless. I still say the first Platinum Breakz was the best. The tracks on there by Doc Scott and Peshay are timeless and can be dropped anytime, anywhere, and still sound as fresh then as it does now.

absolutely but i'll disagree on jonny L...he will ALWAYS be one of my favorite producers making music but I can't say the best things about his latest LP...can't even compare his new shit to sawtooth, hell, even magnetic!
