Awesome! I was worried he wouldn't play cheesy rockstar d'n'b but he didn't disappoint.

Remixes of "Closer" by NIN, "Hey Mickey You're so Fine", "Halcyon", "Blue Eyeshadow", some new electro bidness, trancey d'n'b, etc... and his hair was in full frizzy afro form.

Great night!

I was hoping he woud play deep dark shit, so I wouldn't feel bad about not being able to make it.

Hopefully promoters will see that this man has style, and enough draw in toronto to make a party go off.

I wanna see John B back in town soon ;)

John B was wicked.

every other aspect of the party was crap!

shitty vibe due to : poor turn out
....crappy mc's that looked like they wanted some pity dancing because their party was a flop..[john b couldn't go 2 minutes without one of the "hosts" tapping him on the shoulder and saying something....try hards!]
.....sausage heavy (1 gal for every 15 guys)
.....poor lights and visuals (no lights coming from behind the dj, a video screen pointed in the wrong direction, pinatta's blocking the lazers etc etc.)

Purely amateur night....except for john b who played a great set!!!

I agree with most of this

But the Girl doing the Live PA was wicked
The dancers were kinda cool
The video screen was really cool, showing Aeron Flux most of the night
I met some hot women

The MC were horrible as most MC's are
All the people standing behind, around and on top of John B even started to annoy me, I can't believe what some one like John B thought of that

But I had a great time!

highlights of the night: actually walking into a couple fighting midway through the crowd...he smacked her in the mouth then a security guard was quick to grab him...then I thought to myself "gee,I just don't see how jungle gets a bad rap for being "thuggy" "

then I walked into the bathroom seeing ZERO urinals and going" umm OKee" then came out of the toilet only to see 3 girls checking themselves in the mirror...wow,my bad!:D

John B has got to come back to play a "proper" party.
he would be a refreshing addition to a Theory line up....he's still dark enough, but would add a twist to the night.

How could people be standing on top of him?

Seems like it was an odd night for most of you.

BLAH BLAH BLAH... the usual bullshit! There were many more aspects to the party that were not 'crap', but would you know about that? NAH! Couple things annoyed me as well, like the MC that got mic-happy towards the end of John's set but had nothing interesting to say, but shit, the place was decorated well, the screen was fine, lights and sound were much more than adequate. The turn out did not spoil the vibe, the fuckface who hit that girl would have but I didnt see it. There were many more smiles among the crowd than the gangsta-wanna-be frowns.

John B was great, I went in with no expectations, and even though he did not play any of my favorites from couple years back, I still got blown away by his contrasting style. Serene melodies with monster base lines and furious breaks at times - that just does it for me. Couldn't care much for his electro stuff, but the way he entered into "Closer" was awesome. "Hey Mickey" was a bit too much for me, but made me laugh. John B handled himself very well behind the set of two CD players, was entertaining to watch, but nothing extravagant, just a solid, solid dude with a hell of a talent and maturity to match it.

Queensyze and Andy also played a great set before John B took control of things.

Overall, well done GS, I'm looking forward to more!

Great party, great friends & great talent.. usual Ganjasmile bizness. They are one of the few parties that still have a unique flavour to them.. excellent effort on decor, not the usual local lineup, and overall great delivery.. and that's always something to be savoured even in this downsized scene. I wish I got their earlier.

... So what.. theory now are the only "propper" promotors? I guess this is true if you support commercialism and the type of parties possible through big sponsorships.

Give credit where cridit is due.

John B. was great. The crowd was great, pure smiles all night. (I didn't witness that guy smacking his bitch up) Sue there could have been more people but the people there made it fun. Friendly bar staff, fast service, thats always a bonus.. Thanks for serving me past last call. (shhhh.) Jungirls were good too. Good work GS crew;) :) :D

relax.
I have never even been to 1 theory party.
I was not including the "commercialism" or "promotion" aspects of parties at all.
I just noticed that theory parties are popular and that they bring in lots of "big name" dj's.....I thought John B was impressive as well as unique and feel that it would have been nicer for him, and his fans as well, to get to see him at a big riotous event......because face it, he's an anthem man, not a chilled out basement dj.

where do you mean to give credit where credit is due?

John B was great.....but to say that was a good party is stretching it a little.
