no, thats DXM

DMT exists in alot of plants. Its traditional use is called AYAHUASCA. You eat/drink a MAOI, wait 30 mins, then drink a tea of the DMT containing plants. The MAOI make the DMT active orally.

However, you can do an extract from the plants to get a crystal/freebase that you can smoke, it'll send you to the moon and having you communing with aliens in about 30 seconds, the trip is short (but feels like eternity), and your back to baseline pretty quickly.

The aya brew is a much longer trip.

I've been in a room when a couple of my friends tried to freebase it. I'm probably going to try it in the near future.

Incidentally, it is one of the (many) chemicals released by your brain just before you die. :)

in Breaking Open the Head by Daniel Pinchbeck there are a few good chapters of his experiences of trying to find DMT and taking it.
why not borrow it from the library?

ahaha..craziest five days of my life!

...kicks in pretty fast, too. I had to lie down within less than ten minutes of drinking it!

i've free-based DMT once in my life and was essentially unconscious for about 20 minutes, during which time i experienced what seemed like a life-time of thoughts, feelings and emotions. it is very difficult to explain the experience, and i presume that the only ones who can truly appreciate how powerful and extraordinary this drug is are ones who have successfully free-based it. (i know a few that have tried "unsuccessfully" to get to the desired level. the drug hits so incredibly hard and fast that many seize up and stop inhaling when the initial effects start to manifest.)

if you are going to try this, you should do so with someone who has tried it before so they do not get freaked out when you pass out and/or start writhing and/or foaming at the mouth. it's also a good idea to have someone with medical training around.

after my experience (which took place in august of 2002), i picked up a journal and wrote about 50 pages. i have not read it since but plan to do so if/when i ever decide to try DMT again.

i very much want to try it again, but i am terrified of the experience because it hits so overwhelmingly fast and hard. no other narcotic that i have ever heard or read about has the same effect; DMT is only for those who have experienced and are very comfortable with psychedelics.

it's not something you really do for fun, and it's certainly not for everyone. it's for those who are interested in exploring the possibilities of the mind and/or those who want to really push the limits of their phsychadelic experiences.

i really wish my brain had been hooked up to some kind of monitor during those 20-25 minutes because i am convinced the activity would have been right off the charts. the best way to explain would be to say that i felt like i was experiencing every single thought and emotion that i had ever had, and that i would ever have in the future, at the same time. i was being born, growing up, struggling, succeeding, losing, winning, getting married, having children, dying, et al. all at the same time, and it all made perfect sense to me.

my friend who has tried it says that he felt like he was looking outward and that he was glimpsing the true nature of reality and our place in that reality --- or something, i don't pretend to fully understand what he was thinking/feeling. others have theorized that it's similar to what your mind goes through when you die.

when i first learned of DMT, i was given a crapload of reading material so that i could make an informed decision. it is not something you should do on a whim and, like i said, it's not for everyone.

as long as I don't end up like benecio del toro's character in fear and loathing, I would be interested in trying this.

don't get me wrong will... while i think the mind-awakening experience would be an incredible experience, it's the physiological 'side-effects' that have me raising my eyebrows a bit. sounds like it seriously kicks the shit out of you physically as well as mentally.

I've never tried it myself, but one of my co-workers is always doing it and telling these amazing stories about his "life-changing" DMT experiences. He also does 2CI alot too, what a nutter he is.
I havn't done psychodelics in years so I should probly do some shrooms and acid for a bit first before I dive in the deep end.

ps LISTEN to the mp3 its hella funny (but also somewhat depressing)
