I can't PM everyone with details... there are several accounts looking for people right now so depending on your experience i'd pass it to that manager. The main thing is that it is first level -- so you'd be on the phones all day .. but providing Corporate customer support so at least its not all wierd home users. Some accounts are more technical then others..

To be honest, I'm not exactly certain if i would put my name behind yours 'pest'. I'm not exactly certain of your 'character' from what i've seen on here but send it to me and i'll take a look at it.

Cheers,

Dave

IBM is not really a place to work for 3 months.. IBM is a career or semi career place.. they are very big on career development and such.. very big..

The location would be around the dvp & 401 interchange..

Experience isn't a huge thing but it counts.. they really go on the actual interview itself.. they like to be relaxed and stuff but just to see how comfortable you are troubleshooting..etc

I actually had to do some interviewing a couple weeks ago cause my boss was too busy.. it was fun.. i was like drawing charts on the board and getting them to troubleshoot and stuff :) was great.

Cheers,

Dave

Didn't you say it was through a contractor? If so, anyone who takes the position means pretty much nothing to IBM. And they won't get hired on without anything less than a 4-yr degree.

Agreed though, if you're in, career-development is huge. 20% of your time is spent in training right?

This looks like a great opportunity, I am really excited and will send my info when I get home.
I was offered a job with rogers help desk but it was only part-time nights and weekends.
Now I am working out of the computer field but it is with a telecommunications company.
I am a really hard worker and I have good work ethic, please don't judge me from this board.
I will pm you later.
Thanks.

I wouldn't say 20%

But there are a lot of opportunities to hone different skills, company paid.

If you want to get your feet wet in a big company, there aren't a lot bigger than IBM. Second largest consumer of business travel after the U.S. gov't, well over 300K employees world wide.

Turns out I work down the road from Dave in a different role with the co.

Small world, BIG BLUE.

I'd have to say your completely wrong about that...

I myself was brought in on a 2 year contract..i'm not even at 1 year yet and my hiring is already in progress. Saying I mean nothing to IBM would be quite wrong -- I've been awarded numerous performance awards (only one on my team.. which includes regular employees) and i'm constantly #1 with monthly stats.

You have to view your contract period as a safe way for IBM to make sure you want to be there and you can work. You prove yourself and they want to help you with a career.

Think positive.

BTW -- although IBM is big on training,... i wouldn't say 20% of time..is accurate.. but you can further your training anytime at IBM's expense.

Cheers,

Dave

P.S. if you email me please include your Tribe nick in the email so I know who some of you are...i've already received a slew of resumes..

oh and you commented on requiring a 4year degree.. just thought i'd let you know that is incorrect as well.. I have highschool, thats it (although my experience running a biz for 7 years after that is worth more than a degree)

Cheers,
Dave

Ah, I guess things have changed at IBM. I work at Celestica, and we inherited a lot of policies from IBM. In any case, I'm done with working for larger companies...I'm looking for more challenging positions with consulting companies. Riskier yes, but I'm young. :D The way it's going right now, my position will be outsourced to IBM anyway...I do NOT want to be an IBMer.

(I hope no one at CLS sees this)
