Wouldn't having a lamp that's 10,000 lux within a metre of your head be, like... really, really bright?</font>

Yes. But you don't have to look directly into the light, so long as the light is still coming in at an angle, you don't notice the brightness and still get the positive benefits. No suntanning goggles or anything. Your eyes have to be open for the positive benefits, because that's where the receptors responsible for the effect are.

Hmm, I may try one of these 500W halogen lamps you speak of... the only problem is, one of my roommates in university had a halogen lamp once, but it created so much heat that his room turned into a sauna.

I suppose that's better than having S.A.D. though!

It does put off a bit of heat, but you don't need it on all the time, just a half hour.

I'm happy with everything in my ife right now - but I've got the January blahs.

I'm just going to do what I always do - go home to Peterborough for a few days.

When your Mom and dad are there to cook and barbecue for you, and you either sit on your ass and relax, or drink like a fiend with your oldest friends, all your worries seem so far away! And when Sunday night rolls around, you realize that you're not stuck in a small town and you go back to Toronto fully revitalized!

I felt great when I was in Israel, there was plenty of sun light and I was outside all the time. Canada winters suck!

Sassy, trust me, i went through the EXACT same thing when i came back from my israel birthright trip.
think about it: you come back from the most jam-packed, adventurous, exciting, eye-opening 10 days of your life, and you're just plopped back at work, back at school, back in ontario...
its bound to bum anyone out.
i honestly felt like i had jet lag for 2 weeks after my trip.
i just slept non-stop... i would sleep right though the day.

granted, it is a little bit worse considering you come back to canadian winter, but i don't think thats the only reason you feel bummed.

anyway, as we all know, it always passes and life gets better

oh, it was really great talking to you on friday. its always nice to talk to people who know what i am going through.

Hey BB, it was nice meeting you as well! I definitely think part of this is going through withdrawl from my trip, it was totally action packed and I miss that excitement. If you ever feel like talking about what we spoke about on Friday, drop me a line for sure, I know its not easy - hope you are doing well.

ravetrash saved you the trouble and did some particularly amusing photoshop-fu on me in my "sweet mother of fuck, it actually exists thread"

i'm actually fine so far. usually i take vitamin d in the winter months to combat the blahs, but i kinda forgot to pick some up and i'm fine! although i should still get some. maybe it's cos i have lots of things planned to look forward to? meh. also, i really do enjoy hibernating. it's good times.

the only problem i am having is that i CANNOT for the life of me get out of bed in the mornings. it's pretty much impossible. i get up later and later every morning, which really needs to stop.

I am taking this winter one day at a time. Thinking about it in terms of "how long til it ends" just makes it worse!

I was also living temporarily in an unfinished basement, being strung on by a flakey broad, and in a bad job.

I could honestly complain about everything these days. Except my boyfriend and friends - they're great.

I'm just so restless and cranky and blahhhh. I feel like a sucky little asshole about it too.
