It's getting outta hand

I was just looking at records online, and I've noticed that this whole "sub classification" thing is getting outta hand.. I mean, WTF is "Peak Hour Electro Trance"... are we getting a bit too specific here.. I think so!!

i like adding names upon names to generes, its fun but only really while shooting the shit, record shops and what not should certainly keep the classifications down to a minimum.

hmmm... I guess if you want to be all sophisticated you can start talking about how you like epic trance better than big room trance.. but me, i don't even classify myself as a trance dj.. i just like to think of myself as playing good music, that way I don't limit myself... and nobody can be like "hey, this is house, i thought this guy played only "peak hour electro uk two-step acid trance" lol

the best os when you move different places, IE BC in my case, people are the worst here for over classifying (or mis classifying music)

generally I think if a music classification has more then two words its over classifying. it.
IE: Eric trance
Epic moring electro vocal trance = redundant

i just listen to it and if i like it i buy it.

thats exactly why i don't by MY records online. although i do order alot of stuff for the store solely on genre sub-titles so sometimes it's handy.... but i preferr to touch my records before i by them for my own collection.
