Why is Thistletown so high? I'd love for the writers to walk into Thistledown as night falls and make a retraction.

And Crescent Town, the drug dealing, crime ridden zoo is higher than where my parents live a few blocks over, a sleepy community of Chinese, Pakistani and old Caucasian families. Diversity is at an all-time high and shopping is at an arm's reach. This list is bogus.

This list is so whack it's not even worth talking about. Toronto Life hasn't even released a methodology. Straight trollin' going on here.

The worse this article is, the more people will talk about/link to it and the higher the pageviews will get.

Absolutely trolling for ad dollars.

I do believe there is some methodolgy to this, Spinsah. I can't get a handle of what it is. For example I live in the next district to #2 and our housing stock is almost identical to that of #2, yet I'm in the 60s.

seems like they cross-referenced raw data (employment, crime states, transit proximity, school catchments, etc) with online survey results (residents' own satisfaction with their area) to produce the results. This says as much about the neighbourhoods' self perception/modesty as anything else.

Either Upper Beaches didn't even make the list or we've been lumped in with Woodbine Corridor at #113.
Screw Rosedale. The best part about my neighbourhood is that I can walk to Sobey's in my jammies and no one will look twice.
It's possible I sunk our rating a lil bit.

Query;

How would you collectively rate the neighbourhoods in toronto?

isnt a neighborhood and its approval be based upon the subjective taste of the individual?

yes there is things that make an area better, but if you dont have much crime, nice shopping, not too busy with traffic etc.

one neighborhood that a person absolutely loves may be awesome but another person may not like it not because its a bad area for them, but not to their liking....

so if such is the case, ranking thes neighborhoods seems like an effort in futility, as there will never be closely agreed upon listing IMO.

people rate their own neighbourhoods.. the more people who rated it up for one category, the higher the score for that neighbourhood. More high scores = higher ratings.

The public school school for the annex was relatively low - this is because the people who live in the annex know that their school isn't that great.

Huron St. Public School is the only one within the boundaries of the annex. It was ranked 622nd out of 2714 in the most recent Fraser Institute survey.

Yeah how does South Riverdale have the worst crime in the city? However, South Riverdale has the highest entertainment score.

Who knew the Waterfront and Island community is the third worst for crime!

The list makes no sense.
