I know this is tired, but I'm buying a camera today....
looking for these features:

Smallish
Bit of zoom capability(don't need extra lenses though)
ability to select the kind of light conditions
possiblity to do differnt exposures(like when the turntable lights go all whacky)
35mm film, unless people think digital is a MUST, but which is chaeper in the long run? Do I have to buy a new printer, or will a laser jet suffice?

I'll be in the minority again by saying get a 35mm camera and not a digital. I have a Nikon LiteTouch 120ED, and I love it.

i've done lots of b&w photography with my eos 35mm camera, but now i absolutely love my digital elph - i mean, its SOOO much more economical in the long run, especially since i don't really keep prints, i prefer digital copies of my images.....i've taken over 1200 shots since xmas, so for me, the best bet is digital.

but to each their own.

depends what you wanna do with it.

Tommy, the pics you posted a week or so ago were with this new camera....they were AMAZING! If I can take pics half as good as those, i'll be happy.

The only reason I don't want to go digital, is buying new printers and paper, and I may not always have access to a computer to D/L ..U/L them to.

if you're referring to the thread that was the "non-human" photography, those were all taken on my 35 mm camera, but i think they could just as easily be taken on my elph.

if you like prints, stay with a film camera!

Too Late!

Ok, well after a couple of hours shopping around I settled on a Minolta Vectis 3000, with advantix. It had all the things I was looking for minus the exposure stuff, which I didn't know you needed a slr camera for. It's smaller then a pack of ciarettes, sems cool. I'll post some of the new pics....can't wait! It was 400 with 4 prepaid film rolls, and a 5 year warranty.
Yeah me
