Massive props to the Intimate crew.

All who attended know the deal. The place got nice and rammed between 11 and 12 and the main room was overflowing when the Green Man took to the decks.

All the DJs and MCs represented proper, great job by all of them. I won't single out any sets because they were all great. Didn't get to hear the female vocals because I left just before 2 - long day

. Would have loved to hear it, but got to meet Sunya instead, and she was very nice, although tired at the beginning of the night

.

Congratulations to all the Intimate crew, another successful night indeed. To those people who I met, it was great, and I hope to talk again at the next jam.

**Waiting patiently for the next jam**

Nothing but pure respect for the Intimate Crew...great tunes, great vibe, great people...hell, even the venue was sweet.

My only regret is getting in so late....for all those that weren't there, make sure you make it to the next one. You won't regret it.

Here's to rocking Waterloo next weekend...

peace...

Damn Rich ... were we the only mothafuckas at this party or what? Looked like there were 'nough people inside ... anyway.

Yeah, got there a little late and all (just got back from the lamest cottage "party" EVER ... pure balls, likes) but Surface was pretty happenin'! I like the concept of two jungle rooms, we need more chilled-out shit in this town. Great tunes, not too packed, nice atmosphere and all that. Wasn't expecting to see any MC's, but they were pretty tight (big up my homepiss Stryka) ... as for the female vocals: I caught Sunya (damn!) around the end, she had a lot of trouble making herself heard. Good idea, though.

One last thing: there were some severely sweet-looking junglist gals in the place! I nearly got whiplash. Any females who were at this party, please identify yourself so I can shower you with gifts and write you poetry. Uh yeah, that's it, respect to the Intimate crew, see ya next time around!

What a great party! I was dead tired but the music was really great and I loved the venue! Good crowd, a few familiar faces...nice to see you again D-Cypher, even in though it was pouring rain!

DJ Doublecross spun a great set and I had a good night! cheers to the intimate crew!

I had a fabulous time, it was one of my favourite sets in a long time. The venue was possibly the best yet and the tunes were good all night. Unfortunately I had to leave halfway through Corwin + Kris' set with Sunya, but what I heard sounded great! The vocals could have used a bit more volume, but that's what experimenting is for!

I saw Green Man do a brief set at Nasa on Thursday, in which he played all his own music. I must say I was impressed, it was very experimental and innovative altho a bit too busy for me.

I also wanted to see Gerald against our very own DJ Freedom who has moved back to Toronto, which I am so glad for. This woman has been my inspiration for years now.

Green man was too weird for me.. i need to get used to his music to enjoy it.

Mystical's set was interesting though.. not the usual stuff he spins.

Double cross, you were sick! Did i tell you that? cant remember..

Ist.. nice meeting you.. missed your set though

Have to complain about MC stryka.. total lack of talent. not a trace.
It's the second time i see him ruining good sets.

Also what up with you guys? 4 different djs played the same track .. one after another.
I forgot what it's called.. the one with mad female vocals. Very popular now.

ecstasy riot:

if you're looking for inspiration, wouldn't it be better to find someone who could, oh, i don't know, mix?

dj freedom didn't land a single tight mix...nuff trainwrecks all over the place.
i don't really understand how she gets booked to play.

best set of the night was without a doubt, wishmaster and wizard. HOLY DUBPLATES, BATMAN!!! shite...a whole fucking, gorgeous, bass-heavy set of pure dubplate business. THIS is jungle. i'm so stoked for alaska and paradox.

Hey, now ... ease up there, catboydudekid.

Stryka's a good MC. Granted, he didn't have the greatest night, but I've seen him rock the house on several occassions. I'll let this one go, but next time I might have to ... I dunno, bust off several dozen rounds of my gat in your chest ... because I do indeed own a gat. Buck, buck, buck.

Ouch.....a little harsh mate. It's cool to not like MC's or DJ's, but I think your stretching it a bit to say he's got "no talent"....Stryka's done enough mad sets. Maybe you've just caught him at off times...

now....ME on the mic...

that's no talent.

It's not only me.. my friend also found his set to be terrible.

I also saw him at comfort zone with rudeboy and yonge1...
I dont think they liked him either..always gave the mic to each not to him.

When he did get the mic though.. he was like "This is for all the ladies inside... when i say PU you say SSY" stuff like that.

Anyways i didnt mean to insult anybody.. it's just that i dont like when mc's ruin good sets for me. I'll shut up now.. just wont go to his jams and that'll be it.

then, my dear...you should be right sure to check out me and quasar's set at alaska and paradox on june 29th. we're playing early, but we are playing the most lush, girly vocal, atmospheric, amen-tastic, old skool chillin' set to hit toronto in YEARS. guaranteed brockouts all up in the place. yummy *licks lips*

Is that what he was doin'? I couldn't even make it out... that's lame.

Not a fan of MCs'. (Somebody please duct tape Conrad, please!)

But I had a lot of fun. It was a good thing to go to after a stressful art show.

Rob, you're just amazing. I don't know how many times I've said that. Not enough. I need more adjectives.

And Ist, you are such suave muthafucker.

Hype and Zinc though on the way home? Sweet. Where's my cd, biatch?

Hey Jason,

What did your Girlfirend think of the party, and the people, and the vibe? A fresh new perspective is often the most observant.

She had a good time. She's not really into the music as much as I am, but she put on a brave face. She liked the fact that the second room had couchs, and a more laid back style of drum and bass. She said that it was 100% better than any rave and commented that she could see why I'd prefer Intimate events over any other company.

I really don't know why I have waited so long to go to an intimate event. I knew it would be right up my alley, and although I had really high expectations it didn't dissappoint. I couldn't have been happier with the music. As has been said doublecross and terra, kinetic and nai were all on point. I gotta say though that Mystical really impressed. It was nice to see him change it up for the crowd. Green man was good, but I don't think his style of drum & bass is for t.o. Still give it to intimate for trying someone new. As for the venue... it was amazing. Totally couldn't have asked for a better place.

9/10 (would have been ten save the long walk home in the rain)

Just wanted to send a special shout out to all the cats who made it out on Saturday night. You guys helped make another Intimate event what it was so much respect goes out for your support.

Jason - It was wikkid meeting you and I'm glad your girlfriend had a good time. I have a pretty cool picture of the two of you grooving together. I'll scan it and e-mail it to you.

Highlights of my night (In no particular order)

The Greenman - This guy can do no wrong. I heard him spin on the radio 4 times in the last week and got to watch him perform at the party and each set was killer. I don't think I've ever heard anyone in the city play sets like that and it will be some time until you hear stuff like that again. For all those out there who have been complaining about the music being to hard or "death-metal" like, you caught a glimpse of some of the new sounds that will surely becommign more prevelant in the upcoming months.

Mystical Influence - What can I say? There are very few dj's who I give my utmost respect to and with each passing day this guy does somethig, or says something that makes me smile and think "yeah, this music is killer thanks to representatives like that"
Well, he dropped probably the best set I've ever seen him play. His mixing was tight as usual, but the track selection was out of this world. Versatility = Mystical.
There were quite a few occasions where I caught myself just standing there listening to the music and thinking "damn, that's mystical". Wikkid wikkid wikkid.

Random conversations - I was standing at the back of the main room when I fell into a conversation with this guy. (I think his name was Steve, editor for the Globe & Mail) We chatted about the party and about how much he was enjoying it, and ended up talking about work/life balance and the role music can play in someones life. It was a really cool chat and the type I don't find happen too often anymore. I think it's those kind of connections that make Intimate parties so cool. Respect and intelligence make for a pretty cool combo.

Anyhow, thanks to all the dj's an mc's who helped hold it down all night long, and thanks to all who showed up and partied their butts off. Hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Once again, thanks to you and the rest of the Intimate crew for a wicked time.

I'd really like to see that pic, I was trying to show her how to move to the beat when your girlfriend took the pic (I'm sorry I forgot her name - starts with a C?). Please, send it over via email if you can, I'd love to see it.

Thanks again, see you at the next one.

i didn't make it out to this one, and for the life of me i don't know why. chalk it up to me being a dumb ass. from what i've heard, this was another night of experimental or rare drum and bass. big respect for keeping things new and fresh.

as for the brutal comments on stryka,... i'm not a fan of his myself, but i know he's better than most other people. i don't think he should be singled out and cut up like that, but i wasn't there, so i can't say if it's justified.

i'll make sure to hit the next show. when is it again?
