I have installed another hard drive.I have formatted it.I have my second operating disk ready. But, when I go to install it says I have newer components on my computer.I think its trying to install over windows xp. How do i get it to install to my f drive?instead of my c drive.

I'm running xp

and I'm trying to install 2000 onto another hard drive.

I just tried unhooking my c drive and plugging in my new drive to boot with.

it boots fine with 2000 until you get to a certain point then it says there is no hard drive installed

you're going to screw up your system if you unplug the drive. not sure how it works with xp but with win2k there is a bootloader that gives you the option of running different operating systems if more than one is installed. just make sure to install to a different partition than the one where your existing os is installed

do a search on setting up dualboots, tweak3d.net may have stuff

Remove the xp drive from your system. Don't put it back until you have 2000 running smoothly. worked for me...

well, I got it working.actually, I got it working along time ago.

I had to make a boot disk for w2k advanced server. then I had to reinstall xp(don't know why).now everything works perfect.except, I don't understand all of the settings I can use in w2k advanced server.
