'Roni Size is an originator'....wtf does that mean anyway???

I'm even puzzled with the initial question...as if Goldie is the sole reason drum 'n bass exists...it goes back much further than either of them.

Yep, good old Eye... always the place to find accurate, up to date, and relevant info on jungle/dnb.

hey chris...i just sort of fell off my chair...really funny to read...i'm not to sure of the actual originators of d&b myself, but some of my earliest stuff on vinyl i have dates back to the breakbeat sound evolving from more hardcore sounds ...

artists like phuture assasins, 2 bad mice, early grooverider stuff, & then the emergence of the reinforced sound of which goldie was a part...although the first time i seen him at pleasure force he was emcee'ing for phantasy & rufig kru...

it's pretty simple.

hardcore turned "jungle" which spawned Dnb

jungle existed in 92' but gained recognition in the mid 90's courtisy of guys like GOLDIE because of monster jam"timeless"

roni size followed suit with his own "masterpiece" with new forms...won him the mercury prize in englend for best album of the year

that is both of their claim to fame....they are just poster boys for a genre that has A LOT offer

its so lame when people think Goldie is the driving force behind drum & bass. Yes he started Metalheadz, yes he's a good spokesman, yes he looks cool on camera.......but if it wasn't for Kemistry and Storm, he'd still doing graffiti, or probably be in jail

my prize record is an old grooverider white label which is this really sick track with a crazy breakdown...from around 92...can't remember the name of the track right now, but really nice...sweet breakbeat track...

it's like all other genres, there are a few people that through either luck or marketability are seen by the masses as creating or being originators of a sound....

peace from the darkside...jc

disagree

he would have got into it eventually, but yes, they are major factors to him starting....can't believe kemistry is gone

and yeah...he does look good on camera with the hair and all those teeth. What was the flick called with david bowie??

B.U.S.T.E.D or B.O.L.L.O.C.K.S?
I say it's the latter...

Take your time on seeing that one...the film (if I can even call it that) is absolute rubbish!

Goldie's acting is just obnoxious and Bowie is just gay in this film(really)...and the script, this thing made Independance Day seem like Shakespeare by comparison.

For some steady Limey gangsta action see Gangster #1 instead.

If anyone is an originator, or a "prodigy" its Liam Howlett.

what was that movie Goldie did where him and his brother were both gay. And then his bro falls for some chick and Goldie has her killed and all sorts of shit. They were serious gangsters(the only role goldie can get i suppose)

Sauce, i know you've seen this.........it was a horrible movie, but pretty funny

anyone know the name?

That's the one I was warning rentboy about...
it was originally called 'Everybody Loves the Sunshine' then they ran into some legal trouble so they went with 'Busted'...and then got into more legal trouble so they settled on 'B.U.S.T.E.D'.

It was released in Japan under the original name and B.U.S.T.E.D everywhere else.

my roommate owns B.U.S.T.E.D......

That movie was so horrible... it's only saving grace was the fact that their Milli Vannili performance at the dance club was so horribly pathetic it was hilarious to see..

Bowie was in Busted.... he played a gay guy sent by the higher level of the gangs to overlook the operations of Goldie's gang.... or something stupid like that
