ps: if you ever have a chance to see this band live... GO! (twice)

they have every bit as much of an incredible stage presence as you think they should.

deep comes up to me
his face red like a rose on a thorn bush
like all the colours of a royal flush
and he's peelin' off those dollar bills ...
slappin 'em down.
one hundred! two hundred!

And I can see those fighter planes
I can see those fighter planes

I don't know what this thread is all about but All Along The Watchtower is one of my all time favourite songs.

Across the tin huts as children sleep
Through the alleys of a quiet city street.
Up the staircase to the first floor
We turn the key and slowly unlock the door
As a man breathes into his saxophone
And through the walls you hear the city groan.
Outside, is America

across the field you see the sky ripped open
see the rain come through the gaping wound
pounding on the women and children who run....

into the arms. of america.

Bullet in the Blue Sky is a fucking brilliant song. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how such a young guy (Bono was around the age of 27 when he wrote Joshua Tree's lyrics) had such a wealth of understanding of the issues covered on that album, and could write such beautiful lyrics.

Hats off to that man, he is true poet.

And even more so for Rattle and Hum.

It bugs me that he looks down upon that part of their career.

and let me tell you something-
I've had enough of Irish Americans who haven't been back to their country in 20 or 30 years
come up to me, and talk about the resistance, the revolution back home.

and the glory of the revolution, and the glory of dying for the revolution.

FUCK THE REVOLUTION.

They don't talk about the glory of killing for the revolution.

What's the glory of taking a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and his children?

What's the glory in that?

Where's the glory in bombing a Rememberance Day parade of old age pensioners,
Their medals taken out and polished up for the day.

Where's the glory in that?

To leave them dying, or crippled for life, or dead, under the rubble of a revolution that the majority if the people in my country don't want.

NO MORE.
