I posted this last year and it still stands.

I'm NOT a big fan of the amount of waste that is created during the holidays. Especially cards that are not ones that I wouldn't consider keeping. Some people mail me cards and it's wonderful that they thought of me but I can't help thinking what a waste it is to throw it out so I end up hording cards.

But then I think about all the people this year throwing away cards, wrap and tissue.

USE BAGS. They can be reused for other occasions if they don't have Santa on the front.
REUSE TISSUE It's going to be crumpled in the bag anyway.
RECYCLE paper, wrap, cards, envelopes, boxes.

I know, I know: I'll shut up now. Merry Christmas.

i despise the generic christmas cards i receive. the churned-out "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" bull crap. if you don't have the time to write a personal note, then please don't bother.

I haven't bought wrapping paper in years

I use magazine pages (W works best since it's so large that often the pictures are so beautiful) to wrap my prezzies in. It allows for creativity based on the picture you've chosen and it's a way of recycling.

I stood and watched friends frantically wrap presents at a Christmas get-together last night with the receivers in the other room.

I mean, COME ON. I had a good laugh but I mean, they really didn't have to wrap any of it. If they wanted it to be a complete surprise, put it in a bag or something.

Anyway, I hope my friend recycles all that shit. If not, I'm going to go get it and do it.

Question: who has the Green Bin program? <--- good for throwing out fruitcake that won't break down for another 1000 years.
