what improvements have you noticed in IE9 over 8?

i only use 8 for work, and i have all my personal browsing done in Chrome.

    anything truly revolutionary?

Very interested to try it out. Excited that this release has embraced HTML 5

Javascript improvements and CSS3 support. The faster that POS IE8 is decommissioned, the better

Meh. It took a while for me to jump ship from Firefox over to Chrome so I'm in no hurry to change browsers again this year.

once IE9 comes out, and is out of its beta testing and they have a stable build i will check it out, but right now, im more than happy with Chrome.

Syncing, bookmarks, themes & extensions makes my browsing experience that much better, regardless of whether im on my WorkComp, HomeComp, or Laptop.
and the few extensions i use, i really like.

interested to see how it performs though.

Chrome is my primary browser of choice, too. I'm just excited that MS didn't use it's own proprietary shit and is adopting the next generation of HTML.

Web designers everywhere are doing the happy dance.

Just tried to install the IE9 beta to see if it breaks anything. CAN'T. The fuckers built IE9 on the DirectX 10 API, which Windows XP doesn't support.

Microsoft: IE9 will never run on Windows XP ? The Register

    Windows 7 was my idea

i wont use a browser that doesnt have syncing for Themes, Extensions, and Bookmarks built into it after using chrome.

its amazing how convenient it is when you have 3 computers you use daily, to not have to update these things across all three separately.

i do want to see how well IE 9 renders and its overall feel is compared to 8, cuz that means once its out of beta, we will all switch up to 9 here at work :)

I ran some javascript performance tests the other day from home.

IE9 was right in there with Chrome. Amazing.

    IE8 of course was abysmal.

    will .post results later

Now if companies would stop supporting legacy versions of IE, developers can stop worrying about cross-browser testing for 8-10 browsers, half of which are freakin IE.

just installed the beta last night on my work PC.

so far im liking it alot more than previous incarnations of IE.

its cleaner, more straight forward, not alot of crap and options all over the place.

and its pretty fast, and hasnt had any trouble rendering anything in our application so far, which says volumes compared to 8 and the issues that arose.

i have to say, im pleasantly surprised.
