Always wanted to try but haven't yet.

Some of my buddies in Orange County surf and I asked them to teach me and they laughed and said I would get beat up and laughed at. LOCALS ONLY!

I think they were pulling my leg.

    Next year I'll do it.

My little brother has done in in England and Australia.

He loves it so much, he spent months basically being a beach bum working odd jobs and surfing all day and drinking all night.

If it's anything like riding powder on a snowboard, I'm down!

I'm in LOVE with surfing and the whole surfer lifestyle/cultue.

I learned to surf in Hawaii (North Shore...I was on the baby waves...and watched the big kids surf The Pipe and Sunset beach). It tough...but totally addictive. I haven't gotten a chance to surf since...but I would love to go to tofino one day.

Feeling the power of a 40 ft wave and watching these crazy little being ride it is indescribable.

We are in serious need of an indoor wave in Canada. That'd fucking rule. Anyone want to loan me a half million to start one up?

I would totally go to an indoor wave to practice...not to mention develop some seriously nice pipes with all that paddeling.

    Surfing is a great workout.

Yeah, well I'm so huge that the workout wouldn't matter to me. You could play a movie on my back. six foot ten, 320 punds over here. You don't wanna be around when I get mad.

5'8" and a half, 135 lbs, and no you reallly couldn't even come close to plaing a movie on my back.

I was recently in NJ, and spent a day at Island Beach (a nature preserve) hanging on the beach, etc. I went boogie boarding, which is not even remotely as cool as real surfing, but still mad fun for a city kid. What really blew my mind was this 8 year old kid who was surfing with his dad. This kid was only 8 and he was catching waves!!! He told me he'd been surfing since he was 4!! He was already really good at 8 (while he was waiting for waves, he's walk back and forth on his floating board without losing his balance), and I can only imagine how good he'll be at 20.

I've surfed in Hawaii. I sucked, but it was a lot of fun. You get a great tan just by laying on the board out in the ocean the whole time.

That's what is like in North Shore...EVERYBODY surfs..young and old.

The kids were super cute, I think they called them tiny wahines (pronouced teeny waheenees).

Teaching your kid to surf there is just like teaching your kid to ride a bike. But holy way more DANGEROUS!!!!

He was probably so mad when that shark snaked his wave.
I went to Tofino last summer, the waves were too gnarly and some kid had gotten injured quite bad a couple days before we got there, so that discouraged me from wanting to learn. Also the fact that no one was surfing was a good hint to not try and learn that day.
Oh well there's always next year.
