The braided hair might be a big thing this summer. Summer/Spring comes with change and since Alicia Keys is so hot (I'm getting sick of her, anyone else agree?) people will jump on.

The worst is when you go visit the Caribbean and all the little tourist traps have those hair-braiding places.

Don't do it.
I don't know what you look like, but braids look good on very few women...
Get dreads instead. :)

Dayum... you guys are behind cause i did that last summer ;)

braiding the whole thing looks like you are trying too hard (for white chicks) or like your hair is synthetic ....

i did up to the "crown" of the head and the rest was hanging straight :) it was so cute... oh yea.... thats the hotness right there ;)

my girl friend actually had this done yesterday.

I hope you're prepared to sit there for a really really long time while it's being done. It took like 12 hours for them to do her hair.

I just want to try it. I need a change... you know... from my previous post, I have been dumped... and I want to do that.

That's what makes me happy right now. If it doesn't look good, oh well... I will take it off.
At least I don't have to worry that someone will yell in my ear and make me feel bad. If I like it, I will keep it.

I had mine done last year...twice at the same place. They charged $100 both times, though the second time the braids were thinner and it took twice as long (about 9 hours). I also bought synthetic hair (about 10 packs at $5/pack) to add fullness and colour. First time was black and red, second time was black/purple/blue. I bought the hair on Yonge St. and online, but the salon also has it.

I really liked the way they look on me. I can scan you some photos if you like. I think some Tribe people saw me with them (well, the few that I have met)...Rosey did...and maybe deep?

They're so great in the summer because you get to have long hair but without the "bad hair days" and they don't stick to your neck. They do take a while to remove if you don't like them (a few hours). Mine last for a few months but then the hair at the top of them started to dread.

I got mine done at the Hair Factory in Kensington (on Baldwin, just west of Spadina).

Can you PM me with the information and maybe if you have a phone # as well?

Thanks a lot...
I will buy my own hair, that's not a problem.

About 2 to 3 months for me...depends on how often you wash, how quickly they slide out, what type of hair you have etc. I decided after 2/3 months that they were looking a little scruffy so I cut them out.

My Hair is long on Top, and I have the sides and back shaved. My long hair is down to my shoulders, and I like it this way cause it's so easy to manage, I just tie it up.

I was thinking of going short for the summer, but I might braid it first, cause I can.

I think it would look cool. and if it does not, I can just cut it all off and get a GQ haircut.

Nick - hair is fun

You don't have to actually cut your own hair off when you braid it, unless you really want to (they take a few hours to remove). For mine I cut the bottoms of the fake hair (which tends to be longer than my own hair), unravel them and throw the fake hair out.

The way you describe your hair, you might look like Anthony Kiedis in the "Give It Away" video if you got braids. :D

My hair is wavy to begin with. When I took out the braids, I had a huge afro, but my hair went back to normal once I washed it. But, it was so much softer than it was before the braids...I guess because my real hair was inside the braids so washing them didn't affect it much and the natural oils were allowed to remain.

I tried to Brain my hair but alot of ppl told me I looked better with real hair.

HEAD+BRAIN.gif

it's a tough decision and really expensive, find a good doctor to do it for you, otherwise you may not be happy with the result.
