Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Today also marks the 14th anniversary of a tragedy that I find important, and take time to remember each year.
Last year, I started a thread commemorating it, and it quickly turned into something unitended.
I understand that this day may not be important to you. I am asking that you respect that this day is important to others....
---
On this day in 1989, 14 women were killed by a man who believed that women were his enemy, who then turned the gun on himself.
I choose not to remember this man's name, however, it's almost always what most remember about this tragedy. Here are the names of the fourteen women who lost their lives:
Michele Richard, 21
Helene Colgan, 23
Nathalie Croteau, 23
Maryse Leclair, 23
Sonia Pelletier, 23
Annie Turcotte, 21
Maryse Laganiere, 25
Barbara Daigneault, 22
Anne-Marie Edward, 21
Maud Haviernick, 29
Anne Saint-Arneault, 23
Genevieve Bergeron, 21
Barbara Maria Klucznik, 31
Anne-Marie Lemay, 22
Rest is peace.
Peace,
Sabina
