I need a new monitor

Since so many of you spend hours upon hours stairing at a monitor posting on tribe. I need a new monitor, mine is now a nice shade of green, I no longer have white. Not sure what brands to stay away from really. I have an ADI Microscan 17" right now and it served me well, but I'd like to go 19". LCD is out of the question, too expensive.

Suggestions?

Anywhere upto the $450 mark I'd say .. Give or take some.

Monitors are pretty cheap these days. I bet you could walk into any computer store and get a decent 17-19" monitor for under 3 bills. They have some pretty nice ones at Cosco, and then there is always futurecrap, i mean futureshop.

Make shure all your connections (in the back of your monitor and your computer) and securely fit.

just humor me and check them... it may solve your problem

I can get you a 19" Trinitron, used, off lease, for $245.

I do an order of these once a month. They are completely clean, and in great shape. Usually they're "Dell" branded.

Usually if your monitor changes colour it is a connection issue. Try jiggling your cable around in every spot between the monitor and the computer. If you can get it to flash back into proper colour again, you've got a minor little cable issue that is worth about $50 to have a technician fix for you. Maybe your old 17" is not worth that any more.

ICQ me at 5157981 if you're interested in a 19. I guess that goes for anybody who reads this......

Cheers

Suuuweeeet! .. That made me realize that I have a DVD decoder card (forgot all about it) which has a passthrough cable from the Vid -> DVD card. So I removed the pass through cable and plugged the monitor right into the video card and it looks so perdy now.

thnx,

<--- happy now. :D

Wahoo it's like a new monitor, it can even run at 1280x1024 without the DVD decoder card setup.

<--- Easily amused sometimes.
