I don't smoke (except at parties, on occasional weekends) and it makes for a great body buzz when you do have one every now and then. I just had a (one) marlboro light (picked up a small pack on my way back from the US) and it gave me the nicest feeling. I've been stressing a lot from school for the past few weeks and I just went outside to take a study break (hence the fact why I'm still up at 4am). oh, that was good. more than one in a two day time span and I feel sick to my stomach but this one was deffinatly nice. I power smoked it (sucking it back nice and hard) and I could hardly walk back to my room without holding on to something. :)
ay yeah, so de-stressed now.
Well back to work.... as soon as the buzz fully goes away.

Except, I've put on like 20lbs from smoking weed instead and getting major munchies all of the time

I didn't put on any weight when I quit smoking 2 years ago, but I think it was because though I ate more I couldn't really drink alcohol (made me crave smoking too much) so the loss of alcohol calories compensated for the snacking calories...

moi aussi. i enjoy not being addicted to something that smells!
although i do feel compelled to smoke at parties occassionally which is really odd, because i do think it is the most feral thing ever.

My wife and I quit almost a year ago and as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best decisions I ever made. When I sit in a room now with smokers or, more frequently, drive in my car behind someone with their window open who's smoking, the smell drives me up the wall (i.e. I don't like it.)

My brand of choice for 10 years was Marlboro Lights - they were the only ones I could smoke - Canadian cigarettes are too harsh-tasting.

In my case the cigarettes themselves beat the habit for me. I was a half-to-three quarters pack a day smoker - more on club nights or at parties. About a year and a half ago, the contraband market started getting a lot of pressure from the RCMP and fresh supplies started becoming more difficult. My source started raising their prices and the product was more and more frequently stale after the first two or three cigarettes. Because I couldn't switch to Canadian (ecchhh!) I was stuck smoking stale Marlboros for lack of an alternative. Gradually, I smoked less and less because I just couldn't stand the taste of stale tobacco. Soon enough, I just quit buying cigarettes and bummed the occasional one or two from friends when out drinking. After a while even fresh cigarettes tasted bad to me. Then I quite altogether and I've never looked back. I tried a cigarette two weeks ago and couldn't make it past the first puff. - which tasted great, but the second one totally sucked.

If the government wants to get serious with making people quit smoking, they should require the tobacco companies to sell stale product. Unlikely, and unreasonable in a business sense, but it would wean people off cigarettes in short order, no kidding!
