i bought a duck
I bought a frozen raw duck in Chinatown once. Guy told me it was cleaned (degutted). Which I wanted.
Unfortunately the head and webbed feet were still attached. The shock of anticipating a headless duck while staring into the beautiful eyes of the this mallard was something else. No to mention decapitating it and removing it's feet. It was still tasty, though.

I once bought an eel from Chinatown & butchered it myself. They bonk the thing on the head with a big wooden mallet, & throw it in a plastic bag. Damn thing still wiggles hours later.
The big surprise was when I butchered it -- each of the individual pieces wiggles around after being chopped into 1-inch sections! Unagi = good eats AND entertainment!

You can eat the body if you gut & clean it, tenderize slightly w/ a meat mallet, and/or score cross-wise with a paring knife so that the scoring almost go through but not quite, & slice diagonally into 1/2 inch strips. That's how they do the rings in calamari.
Lots of fun to stick inside-out eel bodies on your fingers like Freddy Krueger!

When I was a little kid I was scared to death of turtles or big fish trying to bite my toes...Damn big brother, always messin' with my head!
