Last night I was out with a bunch of friends got home pretty late and it was my turn to drive. This morning I wake up go to my car and see a huge dent in the passenger side door. The whole door is bashed in, it looks like either a truck or 4 by 4 hit it.
My Honda Accord is only 4 months old, I really don't know how much its going to cost. Now my new car looks like a piece of shit. I can't believe my friends didn't see it, I know it was dark and raining but are they blind. Why the hell can't people take responsibility for the shit they do. Why does every one screw around in parking lots, shit if your drunk or don't know what you are doing, take your fricking time.
Now what should I do pay for it out of my own pocket or go through my insurance and hope it doesn't go up.

sorry to hear that dude.

best bet is to go through insurance. if this is your first claim, then most companies will not raise your premiums. and since it was not an accident (as you said it was in a parking lot) then you should be ok.

how would that make any difference?

Its happened to me too and it sucks. I'm sure if you did it, you wouldn't say anything either.

Maybe it was PoTMOd :p

you're insurance probably won't go up unless it keeps happening, in which case they'll probably put you in a high risk category.

Do I have to report it to a accident center or should I just call my insurance company tommorrow. Shit I buy a car for almost 40,000 I treat it like a baby try not park in a parking lot even, I always try to find meters just so this shit wouldn't happen but it was impossible last night.

where did this happen?

I had something similar happen to my car up at Spadina and Richmond. The antena was bent and the rubber part of one of the windsheild wipers was ripped off. Luckily, the cost of the damage was very minimal, but it still pissed me the fuck off.

From the Ministry of know where, you're coming from, but most likely not on a cost of repair scale.

well my dad is a cop, and he took me down to the station to report it. I think u have to do this, regardless to the fact that they will never find the idiot! I'm pretty sure from there, the police send it to the accident company, and this insures that ur insurance will NOT go up!

I feel ur pain. :(

I'm so sorry man. That must have been my used 1985 Hyundai Pony that gave you that dent. I guess I should have known that those 10 beers and 3 lines of coke would impair my driving just a bit. =(

But hey, if it makes you feel better, one of the front wheels rolled off my pony while I was driving on the shoulder coming from a party. What a pain in the ass that was.

Just Kidding. I really feel your pain.

Thanks Jen I guess I will report it tommorrow. The scary thing is I don't know if a truck hit it or if it was kicked in. The dent is so high on the passenger door that it could not possibly be a bumper of another car. I really don't know anyone that would want to do this to me. Why do people do stupid shit even though they know it is wrong. Just like my friends used to drink in the park and after that go around to buildings and break into people's cars. I used to lecture them and even threaten to call the police on them that is how much it disgusted me.
One of my friends and his girlfriend used to dress in black and make a night out of breaking into cars.
This guy is applying to be a cop.

Dude, the same thing happened to me after 1 month of having my brand new car. I got home from being downtown (Buffalo) like any normal night. When I woke up I saw a dent in the passenger door. (And there is no way it could have happened in my driveway) It pissed me off so much....I had to pay a $200 deductible which sucked, but was better than the usual $500. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR to fuckheads that do stupid shit!

They will get what is coming to them.

Peace,
Steve

I had this happen to me coming out of the Resistor party a few weeks back. My car was parked on the road adjacent to a parkinglot across from Amatos Pizza on Queen. I got in, began to drive and I hear a crazy rumbling. I go out to see that the wheel well on the back right side is rubbing agaisnt my tire. I manually bend it back just enough so it doesnt rub. I see there is a note on my wisheild for a witness who saw a white car with a girl driving who rode right over the sidewalk fromt the parking lot into the side of my car.. and they got the liscence plate.

In the morning I checked and the damage was pretty minimal but I thought I'd report the hit & run anyhow cuz even though there was little damage, there are 10 other people who got it worse off from gutless buggers who took off from responsability.

Depends on the cost of the repair and your deductible. If the repair is going to cost $600 and your deductible is $300 or even $500, I wouldn't go through insurance. Save claims for real expensive things. That way you get the thing fixed and your insurance doesn't go up. It sucks I know, but think of the long term, if your insurance goes up it could be costly. Even if this is your first time. What I'm trying to say is, make sure the claim is worth having on your claim record.

I know what u mean. my car is a lincoln mark 8- pretty damn expensive, and the damages were over $11,000. U will of course have to pay the deductable, which will be $3-5 hundred. my car was smashed on the passenger bumper and totalled the front of right corner of my hood in a way that the whole hood had to be replaced. It was a rainy night so someone could have slid around from the corner after the turn, or there was construction going on, on that street. stupid tractor!!!! grrrrrr........

no probs for the help. I hope everything works out okay for u. Just get the report done ASAP before it turns into a lost cause :)

Bro, that happened to me a few times and always when I park my car to go to a club. Sucks shit!
On one ocassion I had just gotten my rear bumper fixed from a previous fender bender and 2 days later... my bumper is hit again. Pissed me right off! I had my front left fender hit twice! <---all when parked at a meter too! I paid for it outa my own pocket because back then I had a bad driving record and was already in a high risk bracket.

Almost every month I see a new ding or scratch on my car from parking in parking lots, I care but I would go crazy if I made a big deal about it like I used too. Just part of owning a car in a city with careless people. I do feel you're pain though...

...at least you didn't have this happen: I came out of an after party one time and I saw this car in the parking lot with it's front right door completely ripped off! The guy beside him apparently had his wheels turned all the way when backing out of the space (instead of keeping them straight and then turning them gradually as you back out of the space) and used his front left fender to gouge a huge dent and ultimately rip his front door right off! I felt sorry for that guy. Fuck, he probably couldn't drive home. The door was damaged beyond repair IMO and the damage to the frame andfront fender were pretty bad too. The guy who did that deserves a good beating!

owning a nice car is a pain in the ass!

I know exactly what you mean!!

Everytime I go out I come home with a new dent or scratch!

Last fall I went downtown and parked where I always park near the skydome and when I came out from system, someone had keyed the whole hood of my new car

that just goes to show....there's no satisfaction living inside an empty consumer pop culture...

nothing is going to stop your car from being vandalized......not even an alarm.

I've seen a few posts on tribe about cars being busted up outside clubs, and I can understand how infuriating it must be. my guess is that the entertainment district on a weekend night would be a higher risk factor for car damage.

I know it might not be as practical, but do you think that parking aways east or west then hopping a streetcar might make sense?
