I think that I learned many things about interaction from partying, things that I take with me still. Others kiss, some shake hands, I've noticed ever since I started partying that I hug. As do many others I know, and have observed. While I know that a hug is not exclusive to the raving community, I wonder if somehow, it's a greeting that has been adopted. This could be because of it's friendly, non-aggressive nature, or because it isn't as pretentious as some alternatives, such as a kiss on the cheek.
When I remember observing other people in non-raving related environments, I can't say that hugging is really that common. Nor would I want to over-categorize people. But ravers seem to be the one group in which hugging is consistently expressed...
Do you think hugging is common among ravers?
Do you think you learned to use the "hug" as a greeting, from raving?
Or am I just completely silly on this one?
Ming.
