ok, so the one thing i got for christmas this year was a bunch of HMV certificates. I don't shop there, so im gonna give alot away. My question is this: If I use up say$30 of a $50 certificate, do they give you a store credit or cash back? I really don't need the store credit. Just curious...

This years certificate was in card form. So they swipe the card and whatever balance you have left is on the card. Regardless.

another HMV question:
I got a CD from HMV for christmas that I'm not so interested in. Can I still return it for an exchange or refund?

If it's up-opened yes you can refund it.

but I can get the recipet from my mom

they're realllllllllllllllly sticky about that cause they have this new policy where they won't refund opened CDs cause then people can just burn them and return 'em.

but since it was a gift, it now all depends whether or not you get a nice cashier that will allow you to exchange/return it.

I don't see a problem with it cause as long as you get something else, they're not losing anything out of the deal... however, they may see otherwise.

HMV gives 'gift receipts' when you buy presents there......

but I don't remember if it has to be unopened when you try to return it. (probably, since they cut out the 'burn and return' policy)

HMV stands for "HIS MASTERS'S VOICE"

Outside of North America, they use the dog and phonograph as their logo. But because RCA has the rights for the dog and phonograph, they can't use it here.

jennika i highly doubt that they will let you return it. their new policy includes presents. what you shouldve done was download some songs and tried them out.

maybe with gifts its different but last year i couldnt return/exchange opened cds (except to exchange them for the SAME one)

it is HIS MASTERS VOICE

their slogan is "the top dog for music" and their logo (not used in NA as already said) is

It's His, not hers.

I had a huge bet with a bunch of Tribers about this a while ago.

And though HMV does have these new policies, you can still do whatever the fuck you want with the right salesperson. I used to return cds I didn't want from other places there without a receipt. It's insane.

Ya just gotta talk to the most bored, naive salesperson. They'll just shrinkwrap it or use it for the listening stations.

WHY?
You don't watch movies or listen to music?

Unless it's some ethical thing. And even then, it's not your cash. It's going to be used anyway, why not get the new Spike Jonze compilation or buy me the Osbournes DVD?
