Help me pick tunes for New Years

I've been asked to DJ our New Years party again this year but after the last two years of putting up with requests for shitty music I've decided to put an end to it. To paraphrase Frank, I'm gonna do it my way!

But I'm not a complete bastard and know that I can't alienate everyone there buy playing tunes that only I like so I want to split the difference. Find a middle ground and come up with a set of songs that will suit many tastes (including my own).

So I turn to the music lovers of Triber for some suggestions of tunes that aren't exactly mainstream but have a broad appeal. I'm looking for stuff in the house/electro/new wave/breaks vein. Good remixes of popular tunes would be welcome as well.

Some examples of stuff I've thought of:

Chemical Brothers
Fatboy Slim
Groove Armada - Superstylin'
Prince - Kiss (Soul of a Man Remix)
Plump DJ's
Timo Maas - Help Me
Who Da Funk - Shiney Disco Balls
Sneaker Pimps - Spin Spin Sugar (Armand's Dark Garage Remix)
Moguai - U Know Y
Ladytron - Seventeen
Le Tigre - Deception (DFA Remix)
New Order
Depeche Mode

Also things with vocals would be better because this crowd will be full of the 'I can't dance to songs with out words' people. And they love 80's stuff too.

Oh my god. People still wanted to hear that last year. I was like 'Dude, it might have been ironic in 2000 but now it's just stupid.'

There's a killer psytrance tune called "Year 2000"
It would've been better if they didn't include that stupid sample (thus giving the tune it's name)

I've heard remixes of so much classic shit--I've heard Rock the Casbah by the Clash, Janis Joplin ( I forget what song), there's a Girls just Wanna Have Fun one (of course.) Just get a bunch of remixes of songs they'll know.

I'm djing a x-mas party and that list you have I wanna play too.
Here are some of my recommendations.

Groove Armada - that "I see you baby shaking that ass song"
Dee Lite - Groove is in the Heart
Outkast - You can't go wrong with them right now.
Daft Punk - One More Time...Overplayed yes...but people still love it.
Play some Tiga tracks...ie Sunglasses at Night or that Nelly It's getting hot in here song.

That's all for now...cause I should do some work ;)

P.S Conor has your shades.

kylie minogue: can't get u outta my head
atb: let u go
french affair: my heart goes boom (honey's plasmic remix)
kate ryan: libertine, and desenchantee

there's more.. but all of these are crowd pleasers, and even people who like the top 40 stuff will dance to it :)

impress the rockers with your vast assortment of remixes:

coldplay - clocks
white stripes - seven nation army
etc.

also, fatboy slim - star 69 is really badass, because there's swearing.

every single person will be on the floor when you drop "sandstorm"... it's overplayed to hell, but it's still a great song ;)

When I go to my hometown bar the ONLY electronic tracks I'll hear all night are Sandstorm, that one big famous Chemical Bros track whose name escapes me now, and the fucking whistle song.

you're probably thinking "hey boy, hey girl" (aka. the Superstar Dj track) and you're right... but lately i've heard some top 40 guys sneaking in PVD's "time of our lives" and sometimes they'll drop "shiny disco balls" or that remix of "at night" (feel much better...)

:)

Z-Trip is the fucking man!!!!! Don't forget to grab a copy pass the dutch before new years ul be glad you did , with the accapella and instru plus the orig mix you can't go wrong. A great alternative to finding/paying 15 bucks for one 80's remix , hit up a couple goodwill's and grab a stack of records for 10 bucks.

There is an electro version of Radiohead's Idioteque on disk 2 of Dave Clarke's World Service? cd. The track gives me shivers everytime I hear it.
