Dr Funk MD
TRIBE Promoter
I've been asked to DJ our New Years party again this year but after the last two years of putting up with requests for shitty music I've decided to put an end to it. To paraphrase Frank, I'm gonna do it my way!
But I'm not a complete bastard and know that I can't alienate everyone there buy playing tunes that only I like so I want to split the difference. Find a middle ground and come up with a set of songs that will suit many tastes (including my own).
So I turn to the music lovers of Triber for some suggestions of tunes that aren't exactly mainstream but have a broad appeal. I'm looking for stuff in the house/electro/new wave/breaks vein. Good remixes of popular tunes would be welcome as well.
Some examples of stuff I've thought of:
Chemical Brothers
Fatboy Slim
Groove Armada - Superstylin'
Prince - Kiss (Soul of a Man Remix)
Plump DJ's
Timo Maas - Help Me
Who Da Funk - Shiney Disco Balls
Sneaker Pimps - Spin Spin Sugar (Armand's Dark Garage Remix)
Moguai - U Know Y
Ladytron - Seventeen
Le Tigre - Deception (DFA Remix)
New Order
Depeche Mode
Also things with vocals would be better because this crowd will be full of the 'I can't dance to songs with out words' people. And they love 80's stuff too.
