So I leave in 2.5 hours and I think this is one of those shitty business trips I am really not looking forward to!

Anyone have any suggestions for my 3 night visit to Calagary? I leave Friday afternoon to headback to Toronto....

Restaurants? Lounges? Bars? Malls?

Yeah the Intrepid is in full effect. May take a sceneic cruise down to the mountains... Though long drives by myslef usually can drive me up the wall.

If you do end up going to Banff, the *ahem* scenery is pretty solid on all fronts.

Check out The Barbary Coast, The Rose and Crown(yeah like the one at Yonge and Eg) and the Pump and Tap(inside the Mall).

I saw Rusty play at the Rose and Crown..they usually have live acts on the weekends.

If martini lounges are your sort of thing I suggest either Ming or Mercury (both on 17th ave in the SW).

For bars, you can go to cowboys if you are into the meat-market, fake cowboy thing (I guess everyone should go once...but no more than that ). Irish pub: Ceili's (right by cowboys). Cheap ass drink bar: Fox&Firkin...they have 5 cent drink nights...dirty place, but the booze gets the job done.

This wednesday at shadow lounge DJ Swamp is playing Cover is 6 bucks and it's a pretty nice space, good people. I'll be hitting that up forsure.

Malls: the biggest is Chinook down in the south end. Downtown has a series of interconnected malls (all joined by walkways over the streets), and contains Devonian gardens, a nice indoor tropical plant/fish pond park-thingie.

Dress warm though...we don't have 29 degree temps yet. In fact it snowed a bit today.

Ivan you need to hit the Ship and Anchor - its totally the Black Bull of Calgary - and it has a SWEET patio in the summer.
Its on 17th Ave SW.... at about 9th Street.

Rose and Crown is good too.
Cherry Lounge is nice...

Becca you are telling him to go to Cowboys? I don't know about that. its pretty much cowboy hell.
the girls are kind of Guv'ish (tanned, fake boobs etc.) but with country music, wearing cowboy hats and there is tons of fully geared up cowboys.

So I arrive last night after a delayed flight because some dude flips out and wants to be taken off the plane!!

Arrive in Calgary and they won't issue me my rental because my license is expired (Goverment Strike!).So I take a long ass cab ride to this shitty Holiday Inn (Close to where my event is at)! BOoo to two double beds!

Well I am checking out of here and heading down town to check in to a nicer place.

Chrissy: I have been to Cowboys and this was about 2 years ago! It was hilarious and lived up to the meat market reputation.

last year during stampede cowboys set up a massive tent in their parking lot and basically doubled their size. One night they had Snoop Dog and on the last Sunday on Stampede in the tent was Bad Boy Bill! The fun part was seeing most anyone in the tent not allowed inside to use the bathrooms - had to use the outhouses... one of my favorite stampede nights
