I love "Heat". The opening caper rules. The bank job too. Bob is ACES in this IMO, as is Val Kilmer, Jon Voigt, Tom Sizemore..

First DVD I ever bought.

I've tried to watch it twice but fallen asleep both times. Which is too bad, becuase it's apparently quite good, but now I have this 'borrrring' feeling about it that I can't quite shake off.

better than the crap movies they've recently been in but in my opinion Pacino should have quit making movies after 'Sea of Love' and De Niro should have after 'Goodfellas'

ah well there's nothing else on besides 'Purple Rain'- may as well watch it

Bore this, Lysisluta.

I'll bore a hole into your R4V4G3D_SKU11!

I bet Pacino ends up yelling a lot in it. I'm so sick of Pacino yelling a lot. The prospect of Pacino yelling a lot is my one reservation about Angels in America. Pacino's yelling bores a hole into my poor ravaged skull.

Anyone got a really succinct rebuttal of 'cogito ergo sum'?

Glengarry Glen Ross and The Insider
Meet the Parents and Jackie Brown

But yeah, Heat...shitload of talent, 90% of whom are reduced to about 10 lines of dialogue - fucking waste.

Glengarry Glen Ross was good, but consider the movies he made between it and Sea of Love (Dick Tracy, Scent of Woman, etc- bleucch)

same could go with De Niro?

I found Glengarry Glen Ross boring too, though I acknowledge this as a taste issue, the film is undeniably of good quality.

I could see that....i'm sure women like it, but it's very much a "guy's movie". But it's a clinic in acting, all of them really.

Yes, it's an actor's movie, with a cast that can really go for it: but I like my guy's movies to have their testosterone imbued through lotsof violence and T&A, not a bunch of thoroughly unlikable guys being pathetic and angry all the time.

it was on showcase about a month ago too.

Pacino-Deniro, you can't go wrong.

Definitely on the dicksherwood classic crime movie list.

and Ashley Judd is hot. As is Deniro's gf. such conflict and pain when trying to love a criminal.

Yes I am stoned.

Heat is one of my favorite Michael Mann films. The Insider was an astonishingly good follow up to it, but I was a bit disappointed with Ali. Ali seemed to skate past some of Muhammed's darker points in his life, but I guess the movie was more of a celebration than a super honest biography.

Looking forward to Mann's next project with Cruise and Jaime Foxx (who seems to want to be taken seriously as an actor).
